CONTROLS
&
OPERATION
This
section
describes
the
amplifier’s
controls
in
the
order
in
which
you
would
normally
use
them.
Follow
the
instructions
in
step-by-step
sequence
and
in
a
very
short
time
you
will
master
complete
operation
of
the
unit.
1.
POWER
switch
wa
ON
~
Set
the
VOLUME
control
knob
to
the
position
marked
“Q”
(minimum)
before
switching
on
power.
Press
in
the
POWER
button
to
switch
on
the
set,
and
power
is
applied
to
the
amplifier.
Simultaneously,
the
power
level
meter
lamp
will
go
on.
Release
the
button
to
switch
off
the
set.

FUNCTION
selector
Provided
for
the
selection
of
program
sources.
AUX
2
éceosis
eave
Sound
signals
are
delivered
to
the
ampli-
fier
from
the
system
component
connect-
ed
to
the
AUX
INPUT
jacks
on
the
rear
panel.
PHONO.......
For
playing
records
on
your
turntable
(with
magnetic
cartridge)
connected
to
the
PHONO
INPUT
jacks
on
the
rear
panel.
TUNER.......
For
listening
to
AM
or
FM
broadcasts
on
your
tuner
connected
to
the
TUNER
INPUT
jacks
on
the
rear
panel.

VOLUME
control
Turn
this
knob
clockwise
to
increase,
and
counterclockwise
to
decrease
the
volume.
The
VOLUME
control
adjusts
the
volume
of
both
channels.
.
BALANCE
control
The
BALANCE
control
knob
is
used
to
adjust
for
equal
volume
from
the
Left
and
Right
speakers.
Turning
the
control
to
the
left
will
reduce
the
volume
of
the
right
speaker
and
turning
the
control
to
the
right
will
reduce
the
volume
of
the
left
speaker.
If
no
adjustment
is
required
keep
this
control
knob
in
the
center
position.
“A
perfect
balance
is
achieved
between
the
left
and
right
speakers
when
the
sound
seems
to
come
from
midway
between
them.
Adjustment
should
be
made
with
the
MODE
selector
in
the
MONO
position.
.
BASS
&
TREBLE
controls
There
are
separate
bass
and
treble
controls.
Turn
the
knobs
clockwise
to
boost
and
counterclockwise
to
attenuate
low-
and
high-frequency
sound.
When
the
controls
are
set
to
the
center
position
or
when
the
TONE
CONTROLS
switch
is
set
to
the
OFF
position,
normal
tone
quality
sound
is
delivered
through
the
speaker
systems.
TONE
CONTROLS
switch
Push
and
lock
this
button
in
the
ON
position
before
adjust-
ing
BASS
and
TREBLE.
When
the
button
is
in
the
OFF
position,
the
tone
control
circuits
are
bypassed
and
the
BASS
and
TREBLE
controls
do
not
operate.

SPEAKERS
selector
Set
this
selector
to
A,
B
or
A+B
positions,
depending
on
the
rear
terminals
to
which
your
speaker
system
is
connected.
A+B
position
should
be
selected
if
two
sets
of
speakers
are

connected.
With
the
SPEAKERS
selector
set
to
the
A+B
position
and
only
one
set
of
speakers
connected
no
sound
will
be
heard.
Use
the
OFF
position
when
you
intention-
ally
want
to
turn
off
your
speakers
(to
listen
through
headphones,
or
to
silence
the
music
system
momentarily,
etc.).

MODE
selector
Provided
primarily
for
the
selection
of
operating
modes,
this
selector
is
also
used
when
balancing
the
volumes
from
the
left
and
right
speaker
systems
or
checking
speaker
system
connections
for
correct
phasing.
MONO
.....
The
position
for
monaural
sound
repro-
duction.
In
this
mode,
sound
from
the
left
and
right
channels
will
be
blended.
STEREO...
.The
position
for
sound
reproduction
in
stereo..
The
MODE
selector
should
normally
be
set
to
this
position.
REV.......
The
delivery
of
stereo
sound
signals
to
the
left
and
right
speaker
systems
will
be
reversed
by
setting
the
MODE
selector
to
this
position.
POWER
LEVEL
meters
The
power
level
meters
indicate
the
approximate
music
program
power
output
levels
delivered
to
the
speaker
systems.
The
power
level
meters
may
also
be
used
for
continuous
system
monitoring
where
they
provide
an
instantaneous
indication
of
left
and
right
channel
power
distribution
and
channel
balance.
TAPE
(MONITOR)
selector

Sound
from
the
tape
deck
connected
to

TAPE-1
jacks
(or
DIN
socket)
will
be
recorded
in
the
tape
deck
connected
to
TAPE-2
jacks.
TAPE
1.....
For
playing
back
of
a
tape
deck
connected
to
TAPE-1
jacks
(or
DIN
socket),
or
for
simultaneous
monitoring
of
the
recorded
sound
when
recording
is
being
made
on
a
3-head
tape
deck.

.For
normal
listening
to
any
program
selected
by
the
function
selector.
TAPE
2.....
Same
as
TAPE
1,
but
must
be
connected
to
TAPE-2
jacks.

Lie
asta
Sound
from
the
tape
deck
connected
to
TAPE-2
jacks
will
be
recorded
in
the
tape
deck
connected
to
TAPE-1
jacks
(or
DIN
socket).
LOUDNESS
CONTOUR
switch
Set
this
button
to
the
ON
or
OFF
position
as
desired.
Depressing
it
to
the
ON
position
will
restore
tonal
balance
and
brilliance
at
normal
and
lower
volume
levels.
PHONES
jack
:
Plug
the
headphones
into
this
jack
for
personal
listening.
