Do you have a question about the Foppapedretti Iturn duoFIX and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Foppapedretti Iturn duoFIX is a versatile car seat designed for children across multiple weight groups, specifically Group 0+/1/2/3, accommodating infants from birth up to approximately 12 years of age (0-36 kg). It complies with ECE Regulation R44/04, ensuring it meets European safety standards for child restraint systems.

Function Description:

The Iturn duoFIX functions as a child restraint system, providing safety and comfort for children during car journeys. Its primary purpose is to prevent or reduce potential injuries in the event of an accident. The seat offers multiple installation methods and adjustability features to adapt to the child's growth and different vehicle requirements.

Important Technical Specifications:

The car seat is approved for two main installation methods:

  • UNIVERSAL: Using the vehicle's 3-point safety belt.
  • SEMI-UNIVERSAL: Using the vehicle's 3-point safety belt in conjunction with ISOFIX connectors and, if required, a Top Tether.

The seat's compatibility across different groups and installation methods is as follows:

  • Group 0+ (0-13 kg):
    • ISOFIX + TOP TETHER (Semi-Universal)
    • 3-point seat belt (Universal)
  • Group 1 (9-18 kg):
    • ISOFIX and 3-point seat belt (Semi-Universal)
    • 3-point seat belt (Universal)
  • Group 2/3 (15-36 kg):
    • ISOFIX and 3-point seat belt (Semi-Universal)
    • 3-point seat belt (Universal)

The ISOFIX system ensures a secure attachment to the vehicle's anchoring points, indicated by green safety buttons when correctly engaged. The Top Tether belt, when used, also has an indicator that turns green to confirm correct tensioning.

Usage Features:

The Iturn duoFIX offers several features to enhance usability and adaptability:

  • Harness System: The car seat includes a 5-point harness system for Group 0+/1, which can be adjusted for tightness and loosened using a central adjustment button. The harness straps should be positioned at the child's shoulder height, not below or above their ears. For Group 2/3, the harness is removed, and the child is secured using the vehicle's 3-point seat belt.
  • Headrest Adjustment: The headrest is adjustable to ensure maximum protection. When using the 5-point harness, the headrest should be adjusted so the straps are at the same height as the child's shoulders. When using the vehicle's 3-point seat belt, there should be a two-finger space between the headrest and the child's shoulders, and the diagonal belt should pass over the shoulders, not the neck. The headrest can be raised by pulling the adjustment strap upwards and lowered by pulling the strap upwards and pressing the headrest downwards.
  • Recline Adjustment: The seat offers multiple recline positions. The recline handle is located under the front of the seat. The most horizontal recline position is only available when the car seat is installed in the rear-facing position. A "click" sound confirms the seat is locked in the desired recline.
  • Seat Rotation (360°): A key feature is the 360° rotating seat, which allows for easy placement and removal of the child. The seat can be oriented rear-facing (exclusively for Group 0+), forward-facing (exclusively for Group 1-2-3), or sideways (for placing/removing the child, but prohibited during driving). A rotation button is used to turn the seat, and a "click" indicates when it's locked in position. It's crucial to ensure the seat is locked in either the forward-facing or rear-facing position before driving.
  • ISOFIX Installation: The ISOFIX connectors extend and retract using buttons on the sides of the seat. Guides are provided if the vehicle does not have standard ISOFIX connector guides. The ISOFIX anchoring points are typically located between the seat and backrest of the vehicle seat. Green indicators on the buttons confirm correct anchoring.
  • Top Tether Belt: The Top Tether belt provides an additional anchoring point. It can be lengthened by pressing a locking button and is attached to a designated anchoring point in the vehicle. A green indicator on the adjuster confirms correct tensioning.
  • Infant Insert: An infant insert is included for smaller children (under 9 kg) to provide additional support and comfort.

Maintenance Features:

Proper maintenance is crucial for the car seat's longevity and safety:

  • Buckle Cleaning: The harness buckle's proper functioning is vital for child safety. Malfunctions are often due to dirt accumulation. To clean, remove the harness (following instructions in par. 4.8), soak the buckle in warm water with washing-up liquid for at least an hour, then rinse and dry.
  • Lining Cleaning: The fabric lining is removable and washable. Follow the instructions on the washing label. To remove, first detach the harness, then the lining. Reinstall in reverse order. It is essential not to use the car seat without the fabric lining properly installed.

General Warnings and Safety Information:

  • Always read the instructions carefully before use and keep them for future reference.
  • Never leave the child unsupervised in the car seat.
  • Ensure all passengers wear seat belts and loose objects are secured in the vehicle.
  • Do not modify the car seat, as this could compromise safety.
  • Replace the car seat and vehicle seat belts after an accident or if they show signs of wear or damage.
  • Do not install the car seat rear-facing on a front passenger seat with an active airbag (risk of serious or fatal injury).
  • Ensure the harness straps are tight, not twisted, and correctly adjusted to the child's size.
  • Protect the car seat from direct sunlight to prevent burns and fabric fading.
  • Avoid placing bulky clothing on the child in the car seat, as this can lead to incorrect harness tightening.
  • Do not place any fabric (e.g., towels, cushions) under the car seat, as this can affect its safety performance in an accident.
  • The lap belt of the harness system must be fitted as low as possible over the child’s pelvis.
  • The manufacturer's warranty is valid for twelve (12) months from the date of purchase and covers defects in materials, design, and manufacturing. It does not cover damage due to improper use, accidents, or unauthorized modifications.
