PINPOINT TEST G: THE WIPERS ARE INOPERATIVE — REAR
NOTE: Complete the entire Pinpoint Test related to the symptom before replacing the GEM.
Measure the resistance between fuse junction panel C243-21, circuit 679 (GY/BK), and PCM
C174-68, circuit 679 (GY/BK).
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
REFER to Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual Section 3 for diagnosis
and testing. TEST for normal operation.
No
REPAIR circuit 679 (GY/BK). CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
F6 CHECK THE FUSE JUNCTION PANEL CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE GEM AND CIRCUIT 679 (GY/BK)
Measure the resistance between fuse junction panel terminal 21 and fuse junction box
terminal 18.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
INSTALL a new GEM; REFER to Section 419-10. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for
normal operation.
No
INSTALL a new fuse junction panel. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
CONDITIONS DETAILS/RESULTS/ACTIONS
G1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE FROM BATTERY JUNCTION BOX FUSE 103(50A) AND FUSE JUNCTION PANEL FUSE 15 (5A)
Measure the voltage between battery junction box Fuse 103 (50A), Pin 1 and ground; and
between fuse junction panel Fuse 15 (5A), Pin 1 and ground.
Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
Yes
GO to G2.
No
REPLACE the fuse(s) in question or REPAIR Circuit(s) 1052 (T/BK) or Circuit 406 (BR/W).
CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation. If the fuse(s) fails again, CHECK for
a short to ground. REPAIR as necessary.
G2 CHECK THE IGNITION STATES — MONITOR PID IGN_A, IGN_S, IGN_R, AND IGN_O/L
