The device is 100% waterproof and features a non-detachable brush head with a strong yet flexible neck, designed to be drop-resistant.
The ISSA™ baby utilizes Sonic Pulse Technology, delivering 6,000 delicate pulsations per minute. These pulsations provide gentle cleaning for primary teeth and a soothing massage for gums. The toothbrush offers two brushing modes: Massage Mode and Brush Mode. Massage Mode gently massages the gums and helps clear away food fragments, which is particularly beneficial before the first tooth appears, as it soothes irritation and relieves tenderness associated with teething. Brush Mode is designed to keep teeth clean and healthy once they emerge, offering precise cleaning that covers each tooth from all angles for a thorough clean. The ISSA™ baby is designed for in-home use to promote overall oral hygiene. It operates with a universal power button: pressing it once activates Brush Mode, and pressing it twice activates Massage Mode. It is recommended to use the toothbrush twice a day, in the morning and evening, for 2 minutes each time. The device incorporates "Smile Helpers" – "Glee" (happy) and "Glum" (sad) faces – to encourage children during their brushing routine. The "Glee" face lights up after 2 minutes of brushing, rewarding the child for a good job, while the "Glum" face appears if the device hasn't been used for over 12 hours, serving as a reminder.
The ISSA™ baby is intended to be used like a manual toothbrush, with circular motions for brushing teeth and massaging gums. Parents or adult guardians should supervise children during use to ensure proper technique and optimal results. For children aged 0-4 years, it can be used with a dentist-recommended amount of infant-formulated soothing gel or toothpaste. The device is not intended to be used as a chewing toy, as vigorous chewing may damage the silicone cover. If any discomfort is experienced, use should be discontinued, and a physician consulted.
The ISSA™ baby is USB-rechargeable and boasts an exceptionally long battery life. A 1-hour charge powers the device for up to 480 uses, which translates to up to 240 days of standby time. An indicator light flashes to signal when to move to a new quadrant of the mouth during brushing and when the device needs charging. When fully charged, the indicator light stops blinking. It is crucial not to use the device while charging and to ensure the charging port is free of water and toothpaste residue before connecting the USB cable. Only the provided FOREO USB charging cable should be used.
Cleaning the ISSA™ baby is straightforward. After each use, the toothbrush should be rinsed with warm water, with fingers run through the bristles, and then allowed to air-dry. For deeper cleaning, the ISSA™ baby can be placed in a UV sanitation case, though this may affect the silicone's color. Alternatively, it can be cleaned in a dishwasher at a maximum temperature of 80°C with a 1-hour wash/rinse cycle and 30-minute drying cycle, or in a baby bottle sterilizer at a maximum temperature of 100°C for no more than 20 minutes. It is important to avoid cleaning products containing alcohol, petrol, acetone, or toothpastes with bleach, as these can damage the device.
The ISSA™ baby is designed with no detachable parts, ensuring ultra-safety and eliminating the need for replacement brush heads. In case of a damaged or pierced silicone cover, the device should be discontinued and disposed of responsibly. If any part is suspected to have been swallowed, a healthcare provider should be contacted immediately.
Troubleshooting guidance is provided for common issues: if the device doesn't activate, it likely needs charging. If it cannot be switched off or doesn't respond, the microprocessor might be temporarily malfunctioning, and connecting it to the charging cable or pressing and holding the universal button can restart it. If the charging light doesn't blink, it indicates either a full battery, a drained battery requiring a few minutes to acknowledge the charge, or an improperly connected charging cable.
