Great care has been taken in the design and manufacture of the

Optima PT,

a volumetric infusion device.

The configuration flexibility of the Optima PT provides overall

improvement in the working conditions of medical teams, thus increasing

patient safety.

The use of this material requires great care. The user must be able to

handle the instrument properly and must know how to fully operate.

Usage Features

Tubing Set Installation: A clear, step-by-step process for installing the infusion set, including priming the set and inserting it into the air sensor.
Setting Infusion Parameters: Users can easily set the volume to infuse, time, and flow rate. The pump automatically calculates the third parameter based on the other two. Drug names can also be programmed.
Infusion Modes: Supports various modes including continuous infusion, secondary infusion for administering additional solutions, and bolus administration for rapid drug delivery.
Programming Pause: Allows users to temporarily halt an infusion for a specified duration.
Key Locked/Unlocked: A feature to prevent accidental changes to infusion parameters during operation.
Loading Dose: Facilitates the delivery of a volume (e.g., loading dose) automatically followed by the delivery of the primary infusion.
Ramp Up/Ramp Down: Enables gradual increase and decrease of flow rate at the beginning and end of an infusion, respectively.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the Optima PT to ensure its continued accuracy and safety.

Cleaning and Disinfecting: The pump's external surfaces should be cleaned and disinfected regularly using recommended cleaning agents. It is important to disconnect the device from the power supply before cleaning.
Preventive Maintenance: Fresenius Kabi recommends preventive maintenance every 3 years. This includes battery replacement and should be performed by qualified technicians.
Quick Check: A daily or pre-use quick check procedure is outlined, covering visual inspection, LED and buzzer tests, pump door operation, tubing insertion, air sensor function, and occlusion alarm tests. This helps ensure the device is functioning correctly before each use.
Battery Maintenance: The battery life can decrease over time. For frequent mains operations, battery life may be extended by fully discharging and recharging the battery approximately every 4 weeks. A pre-alarm battery signal indicates when the battery needs attention.
Technical Service: For any technical issues, repairs, or comprehensive maintenance, users are advised to contact Fresenius Kabi's Technical Service. The device should be packed in its original packaging when sent for service.
