Do you have a question about the Fujitsu AIRSTAGE ASTH07KMCD and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document outlines the operation and maintenance of the Fujitsu Airstage wall-mounted air conditioner, specifically models ASTH07KMCD, ASTH09KMCD, ASTH12KMCD, and ASTH14KMCD. It emphasizes safety precautions, basic operation, airflow settings, timer functions, energy-saving operations, and cleaning procedures.

Function Description

The Fujitsu Airstage air conditioner is a wall-mounted unit designed for residential or commercial use, offering cooling, heating, dry, and fan-only modes. It utilizes R32 refrigerant, a low burning velocity material, and incorporates various features for user comfort and energy efficiency.

Operation Modes:

  • Auto: The unit automatically selects the appropriate mode (Cooling, Heating, Dry, or Fan) based on the room temperature and desired set temperature.
  • Cooling: Reduces room temperature to the set level.
  • Heating: Raises room temperature to the set level.
  • Dry: Dehumidifies the room while maintaining a comfortable temperature.
  • Fan: Circulates air without cooling or heating.

Special Operations:

  • Powerful Operation: Allows the air conditioner to operate at maximum power and strong airflow to quickly cool or warm the room. This operation typically runs for a certain amount of time or until the room temperature reaches the set temperature, then automatically turns off. It is not available in multi-split connections and overrides certain other operations like Economy and Outdoor Unit Low Noise.
  • Outdoor Unit Low Noise Operation: Reduces the noise level of the outdoor unit by decreasing compressor rotation and slowing the outdoor unit fan. This function is not available in multi-split connections and cannot be performed simultaneously with Fan mode, Dry mode, or Powerful operation.
  • 10°C Heat Operation: Maintains the room temperature at 10°C to prevent it from dropping too low, useful for unoccupied rooms during cold periods. Only the temperature setting is valid during this operation. It is not available with a wired remote controller and may cause higher room temperatures in multi-split systems if other indoor units are in Heating mode.
  • Demand Response (DR) Mode: This function is available when connected to an outdoor unit equipped with a demand function and requires arrangement with an electricity supplier. It allows the air conditioner to switch to specific operations (Compressor off, 50% or less electrical energy consumption in 30 minutes, or 75% or less electrical energy consumption in 30 minutes) based on signals from the electricity supplier to manage energy demand. During DR mode, cooling/heating performance may be reduced, and only turning off the operation or off timer operation are valid.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Refrigerant: R32.
  • Temperature Setting Range:
    • Auto/Cooling/Dry: 18.0–30.0°C
    • Heating: 16.0–30.0°C
    • 10°C Heat Operation: Maintains 10°C (though the unit will run at 18.0°C if set lower).
  • Remote Controller Range: Approximately 7 meters.
  • Battery Type (Remote Controller): R03/LR03/AAA x 2. Batteries typically last about 1 year.
  • Air Cleaning Filters: Apple-catechin filter and Ion deodorization filter (model names UTR-FA16 and UTR-FA16-2, respectively, sold separately).

Usage Features

Remote Controller: The remote controller is the primary interface for operating the air conditioner. It features a display that shows current settings and indicators.

  • Basic Operations: Power On/Off, Mode selection (Auto, Cool, Dry, Fan, Heat), Temperature adjustment (in 0.5°C increments).
  • Airflow Settings:
    • Fan Speed: Adjustable through Auto, High, Med, Low, and Quiet settings. Auto speed adjusts based on operating conditions.
    • Up/Down Airflow Direction: Adjustable using the SET button.
    • Left/Right Airflow Direction: Manually adjustable using two knobs on the unit.
    • Swing Operation: Automatically sweeps the airflow up and down using the SWING button.
  • Timer Operations:
    • Weekly Timer: Allows scheduling up to 4 operations per day for each day of the week, combining On and Off timers.
    • On Timer: Starts operation at a desired time.
    • Off Timer: Stops operation at a desired time.
    • Program Timer: Combines On and Off timers.
    • Sleep Timer: Supports comfortable sleep by gradually moderating air conditioner operation.
  • Energy Saving Operations:
    • Economy Operation: Activates or deactivates an energy-saving mode.
    • Occupancy Sensor for Energy Saving: Uses an occupancy sensor to detect human presence. If no one is detected for 20 minutes, the temperature setting is automatically adjusted to save energy (higher in cooling/dry, lower in heating). The unit returns to normal operation when presence is detected. The sensor's detection range is approximately 6m in front and 90° horizontally.
    • Fan Control for Energy Saving: In Cooling mode, the indoor unit fan rotates intermittently when the room temperature reaches the set temperature to save power.

Settings on Installation:

  • Remote Controller Custom Code Setting: Allows setting a custom code for the indoor unit and remote controller (A, B, C, D) to prevent interference when multiple air conditioners are in the same room.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and care are essential for maintaining the product's performance and lifespan.

Cleaning Frequency:

  • Indoor Unit Body: When noticed.
  • Air Filter: Every 2 weeks.
  • Ion Deodorization Filter: Every 3 months.
  • Apple-catechin Filter (UTR-FA16) / Ion Deodorization Filter (UTR-FA16-2): Replace every 3 years.

Cleaning Procedures:

  • Indoor Unit Body: Wipe gently with a soft cloth moistened with warm water, then dry with a soft cloth. Do not use water hotter than 40°C, scouring cleansers, or volatile solvents.
  • Air Filter:
    1. Open the intake grille until it snaps.
    2. Remove the air filters by lifting the handle, disconnecting the lower tabs, and pulling them out.
    3. Remove dust using a vacuum cleaner or wash with mild detergent and warm water, then dry thoroughly in shade.
    4. Replace the air filters, ensuring tabs are returned to their holes.
    5. Close the intake grille by pressing at 4 places.
  • Ion Deodorization Filter and Apple-catechin Filter:
    1. Remove air filters.
    2. Remove air cleaning filters from the air cleaning filter holder.
    3. Flush the Ion deodorization filter with high-pressure hot water until the surface is covered with water.
    4. Wash with diluent neutral detergent (do not ream or rub to avoid decreasing deodorizing effect).
    5. Rinse with water flow.
    6. Dry in shade.
    7. Set new or washed filters into holders.
    8. Install holders to air filters, engaging hooks with latches.
    9. Replace air filters and close the intake grille. Note: Apple-catechin filters should be used as soon as possible after opening the package as their effect decreases when exposed to air.

Safety Precautions for Maintenance:

  • Always turn off the unit and disconnect all power supply before cleaning.
  • Ensure the intake grille is completely shut after cleaning.
  • Consult authorized service personnel for high-place filter cleaning.
  • Do not touch aluminum fins of the heat exchanger to avoid injury.
  • Do not expose the unit to liquid insecticides or hair sprays.
  • Do not stand on slippery, uneven, or unstable surfaces during maintenance.

Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting section with indicator lamp states, possible causes, and recommended actions for common issues such as power failure, unusual noises, mist/steam emission, strange odors, remote controller signal problems, and operational errors. It also describes how to perform manual auto operation and filter indicator reset.
