Overview

This document serves as a user manual for the FWIN232 TABLET PC, a portable device designed to offer both tablet and laptop functionalities. It emphasizes micro-mobility and direct interaction through touch input, along with wireless connectivity via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, catering to both study and entertainment needs.

Function Description

The FWIN232 TABLET PC is a versatile device that operates on the Windows platform. Its primary function is to provide a flexible computing experience, allowing users to switch between a tablet and a laptop form factor as needed. This is achieved through an optional docking keyboard, which transforms the tablet into a laptop. The device supports various applications and programs, including Windows Store apps like Music, Mail, and Weather, as well as desktop apps such as Notepad and Office. Users can access these applications through the Start screen, search function, or by creating shortcuts on the desktop and pinning them to the taskbar.

The tablet's core operations include turning the device on and off, which can be done by pressing and holding the power button or through the Windows interface. It supports external storage expansion via TF/Micro SD™ cards, with capacities ranging from 128MB to 128GB. The manual provides clear instructions on how to install and remove these storage cards, emphasizing the importance of unmounting the SD card before physical removal to prevent data loss.

Connectivity is a key feature, with built-in Wi-Fi for wireless network access and Bluetooth for connecting to other devices. The manual guides users through finding their wireless network password, whether it's on the router hardware or through a Windows PC that is already connected. For Bluetooth, it explains how to make the device discoverable, search for devices, and complete the pairing process, including handling pairing codes.

Account management is also detailed, covering new account setup and sign-in using a Microsoft account. Users can create multiple user accounts, including Administrator, Standard User, or Child accounts, and leverage Family Safety features to manage children's device usage, setting limits on websites, apps, and games. The manual also describes how to unlock and sign in to the device, and how to create or change passwords, including options for Picture password and PIN.

Usage Features

The FWIN232 TABLET PC offers a rich interactive experience through its touchscreen and optional keyboard.

  • Docking Keyboard: The docking keyboard is an optional accessory that enhances the device's versatility. To use it, the cover is opened with the docking pin connector facing upward. The tablet is then gently aligned with the two notches and the pin with the docking connector until a snap or click is heard, indicating a secure connection. The cover can be folded to create a stand for the tablet, ensuring a good magnetic contact. It is recommended to use the tablet and docking keyboard on a flat horizontal surface to prevent damage.

  • Gestures: The device supports a variety of touch gestures for intuitive navigation and interaction:

    • Tap: Opens, selects, or activates items, similar to a mouse click.
    • Tap and hold: Shows information about an item or opens a context-specific menu, akin to a right-click.
    • Pinch or stretch: Zooms in or out on content like websites, maps, or pictures.
    • Rotate: Rotates items by turning two or more fingers on the screen.
    • Slide to scroll: Drags a finger on the screen to scroll through content.
    • Slide to rearrange: Briefly drags an item in the opposite direction of page scroll, then moves it to a desired new location.
    • Swipe to select: Uses a short, quick swipe in the opposite direction of page scroll to select an item and often brings up app commands.
    • Swipe from edge:
      • Right edge: Opens charms (Search, Share, Start, Devices, Settings).
      • Left edge: Opens a recently used app. Continuous swiping switches between open apps. It also allows opening another app at the same time by dragging the app until a divider appears, then adjusting the app size. Pushing the app back toward the left edge shows a list of recently used apps.
      • Top or bottom edge: Shows commands for the current apps, such as New and Refresh.
      • Top edge (slide down): Closes an app by dragging it to the bottom of the screen.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting section to address common issues:

    • Device unable to start up: Suggestions include checking the power button, ensuring the device is plugged into a working AC outlet, and verifying secure power cord and AC adapter connections.
    • Device is unusually warm: It's noted that warmth is normal during use, but if overheating is suspected, the device should be allowed to cool. A warning advises against placing the device directly on the lap and recommends using it on a hard, flat surface, ensuring the AC adapter doesn't contact skin or soft surfaces.
    • Blank screen: This could be due to the device being in Sleep state. Briefly pressing the power button exits Sleep. Power settings can be adjusted via the Battery icon in the taskbar.
    • Software functioning abnormally: Restarting the computer through the charms menu (Settings > Power > Shut down) is recommended. If this fails, the previous section on unresponsive devices should be consulted.
    • External device not functioning as expected: Users should ensure the external device is turned on, connections are secure, it's receiving power, it's compatible with the operating system, and correct drivers are installed and updated.
    • Wireless network connection not working: Suggestions include enabling/disabling the network device via the Network Connection icon, ensuring the wireless device is on, checking for obstructions to antennas, verifying modem and router connections and lights, and reconnecting all cables before restarting power.

Maintenance Features

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of the FWIN232 TABLET PC.

  • Safety Notice: The manual provides crucial safety guidelines:

    • Avoid storing the device in extreme hot, cold, dusty, dry, or humid environments.
    • Handle with care to prevent damage from drops, burns, punctures, crushes, or liquid contact. Avoid placing heavy objects on it.
    • Do NOT attempt to open the device, as this can cause damage or injury and voids responsibility for data loss from unauthorized repairs. Contact an authorized service provider for repairs.
    • Note that the operating system consumes storage space, so actual usable storage will be less than specified.
    • For new batteries, optimal performance is achieved after two or three full charge/discharge cycles. The first three cycles should involve charging for 8-10 hours, followed by subsequent charges of 8-10 hours for about four cycles to ensure the lithium battery reaches its best performance.
    • Charge the battery when the icon shows low level, the device powers off automatically, or it is unresponsive.
    • The device should not be disposed of in municipal waste; local regulations for electronic product disposal should be followed.
    • The device contains a flammable lithium-polymer battery. Do NOT throw it in fire or short circuit contacts.
  • Cleaning Procedures: The manual outlines safe cleaning practices:

    • Cleaning products: Recommended products include dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride (0.3% maximum concentration) germicidal disposable wipes, water with mild soap solution, dry microfiber cleaning cloth or chamois (static-free, oil-free), and static-free cloth wipes.
    • General cleaning: To prevent electric shock or damage, the device must be turned off and external power disconnected before cleaning. Cleaning agents or liquids should NOT be sprayed directly on any device surface, as this can permanently damage internal components.
    • Cleaning the display: Gently wipe the display with a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with an alcohol-free glass cleaner. Ensure the display is dry before closing it.
    • Cleaning the sides and cover: Use a soft microfiber cloth or chamois moistened with one of the recommended cleaning solutions or an acceptable germicidal disposable wipe.
