Function Description

The machine incorporates several special features to enhance the coffee brewing process:

Gaggia Adapting System: Coffee is a natural product with varying characteristics. This system allows the machine to self-adjust after brewing a few coffees, optimizing the extraction for your chosen beans and ensuring a consistent, high-quality taste.
Coffee Intensity Adjustment: Users can customize their coffee by adjusting the quantity of coffee ground, catering to individual taste preferences. The machine also supports the use of pre-ground coffee for convenience.
Ceramic Coffee Grinder: Equipped with ceramic grinding wheels, the machine ensures consistently excellent grinding. This technology preserves the coffee's aroma, delivering the true taste of Italian coffee. The grinding fineness can be adjusted to five different levels, from coarse for a lighter taste to fine for a stronger taste.

Usage Features

The Gaggia Anima Deluxe offers a user-friendly interface with selection buttons and a display for easy navigation and operation.

First Start Operations: Before initial use, the machine requires a water circuit priming, an automatic rinse/self-cleaning cycle, and a manual rinse cycle to ensure proper functioning and hygiene.
Activation and Deactivation: The machine can be turned on and off using the main switch and the STAND-BY button. It automatically enters stand-by mode after 15 minutes of inactivity, with the option to change this preset time.
Adjustments:
- Water Hardness Measurement and Setting: It is crucial to measure water hardness using the provided disposable strip to determine the descaling schedule and ensure correct use of the INTENZA+ water filter. The machine allows for setting water hardness to very soft, soft, hard, or very hard.
- Aroma Intensity Adjustment: The aroma strength can be adjusted by pressing the AROMA STRENGTH button, allowing users to choose between extra light, light, medium strength, strong, and extra strong aromas. A pre-ground coffee option is also available.
- Ceramic Coffee Grinder Adjustment: Grinder adjustments should only be made while the machine is grinding coffee beans. The grinder adjustment knob allows for five different grinding fineness levels, impacting the coffee's taste.
- Brewing Temperature Adjustment: The coffee brewing temperature can be adjusted to maximize the quality and taste of the coffee.
- Coffee Dispensing Spout Adjustment: The height of the coffee dispensing spout can be adjusted to accommodate different cup sizes.
Coffee-based Preparations:
- Use of Pre-ground Coffee: The machine supports brewing one product using pre-ground coffee. Users must use the supplied measuring scoop to avoid damage.
- Brewing with One Button: Espresso and espresso lungo can be brewed with a single press of their respective buttons. The coffee length can be adjusted during preparation by holding the button until the desired quantity is reached.
- Brewing Two Products with One Button: For coffee beans, the machine can brew two espressos or two espresso lungos by pressing the button twice.
Milk Frother: The automatic milk frother prepares frothed milk for cappuccinos. It is recommended to use cold milk with at least 3% protein content. The machine can use whole, skimmed, soy, and lactose-free milk.
Hot Water-based Preparations: The machine can dispense hot water for other beverages.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential to prolong the machine's life and ensure correct operation. The manual provides a detailed schedule for these activities.

Machine Cleaning:
- When Needed: The machine indicates when the coffee grounds drawer is full, prompting users to empty and clean it, along with the drip tray.
- Weekly Cleaning: This involves cleaning the drip tray seat and other components.
Brew Group Cleaning:
- Weekly Brew Group Cleaning Cycle: The brew group should be cleaned at least once a week with water. This involves disassembling, washing with lukewarm water, air-drying, and reassembling the brew group.
- Monthly Lubrication: After approximately 500 coffee cups or at least once a month, the brew group should be lubricated using a special grease (sold separately).
- Monthly Degreasing: After approximately 500 coffees or at least once a month, a degreasing cycle with degreasing tablets (sold separately) should be performed to complete the brew group maintenance.
Containers Cleaning:
- Water Tank Cleaning: The water tank and filter should be removed, washed with fresh water, and refilled.
- Coffee Compartments Cleaning: Monthly cleaning of the coffee bean hopper with a wet cloth and the pre-ground coffee compartment with a dry cloth is recommended.
Milk Frother Cleaning:
- Milk Frother Cleaning Cycle: After every use, the milk frother should be cleaned with water to maintain hygiene and optimal frothed milk thickness.
- Monthly Cleaning of Milk Frother Components: This involves two cleaning cycles, one with a specific detergent and water, followed by a water-only rinse. The milk frother dispensing spout also needs to be disassembled and cleaned.
Descaling Cycle: When the CALC CLEAN symbol is displayed, descaling is necessary. The cycle lasts about 30 minutes and involves a cleaning phase with Gaggia descaling product, followed by a rinse cycle. The INTENZA+ water filter should be removed before descaling.
INTENZA+ Water Filter:
- Installation: The INTENZA+ water filter limits limescale formation and improves coffee aroma. Installation involves immersing the filter in cold water, setting it according to water hardness, and then placing it in the water tank.
- Replacement: The machine indicates when the INTENZA+ water filter needs to be replaced, guiding users through the replacement process.
