Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the Galanz GLR16FS2E16 refrigerator, providing comprehensive details on its operation, installation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Galanz GLR16FS2E16 is a refrigerator designed for household use, featuring both a refrigerating chamber and a freezer compartment. It operates on a 120V single-phase AC power supply with a frequency of 60Hz and requires a dedicated, reliably grounded socket (above 10A). The refrigerator utilizes R600a refrigerant, which is flammable, necessitating careful handling and placement.

The refrigerating chamber is primarily for storing fresh food for short periods, such as vegetables, fruits, and beverages, with a typical temperature range of 39°F to 46°F. It includes door bins, glass shelves, and a crisper drawer for organized storage. The crisper features a humidity adjustment zone, allowing users to slide a module to control humidity levels (LOW for lower humidity, HIGH for higher humidity) based on the food being stored.

The freezer compartment is designed for long-term storage of items like meat and fish, with a standard temperature of -0.4°F. It includes upper and lower freezer drawers. The refrigerator is a frost-free model, eliminating the need for manual defrosting.

The appliance features an electronic display with buttons for "Fridge," "Freezer," and "Select" to manage temperature settings and special functions. An LED light illuminates the refrigerating chamber when the door is open.

Usage Features

Installation and Placement:

Upon receiving the refrigerator, it should be placed on a flat and solid surface. If transported incorrectly (upside down or laying flat), it must be placed upright for at least 2 hours before being plugged in. Adjustable feet at the front allow for leveling. The refrigerator requires adequate ventilation, with more than 1/4 inch of space on the sides and back, and more than 1 inch on top. It should be kept away from heat sources, direct sunlight, and wet areas. During handling, avoid lifting it sideways or reversing it. If tilting is necessary, the inclination should not exceed 45 degrees. Movable parts like glass shelves and drawers should be secured with tape during transportation. The handles should not be used for moving the refrigerator; it should be lifted from the bottom.

Initial Setup:

After stable placement and cleaning, wait at least 2 hours before connecting the power supply to ensure normal operation. All packaging components, including foam pads and adhesive tape, must be removed. Check accessories against the packing list. After switching on, the refrigerator will run for a long time to reach the set temperature. During this initial period, minimize door openings. It is normal for the refrigerator to be slightly louder and for the sides to be warmer during the first and longer working times.

Temperature Control and Functions:

The electronic display allows for temperature adjustments.

  • Refrigerator Compartment: Press the "Fridge" button to enter setting mode. The temperature display will flash, and each press will increase the temperature by 1 degree, cycling from 33°F to 45°F. The setting is finalized if no operation occurs for 5 seconds.
  • Freezing Compartment: Press the "Freezer" button to enter setting mode. The temperature display will flash, and each press will increase the temperature by 1 degree, cycling from -5°F to -8°F. The setting is finalized if no operation occurs for 5 seconds.
  • Special Modes: The "Select" button allows switching between "Quick Freezing" and "Smart" modes.
    • Quick Freezing: When the quick freezing icon flashes (after pressing "Select"), the refrigerator is in quick freezing mode. In this mode, the freezer temperature is fixed at a low setting and cannot be regulated. It will automatically exit quick freezing mode within 24 hours after freezing is complete.
    • Smart Mode: When the smart icon flashes (after pressing "Select"), the refrigerator is in smart mode. In this mode, the refrigerator and freezer temperatures adjust automatically based on the environmental temperature.
    • To exit any special mode, press "Select" until all pattern icons disappear.

Food Storage Guidelines:

  • Refrigerator: Store cooked meat for no more than 4 days. Fruits and vegetables should not exceed one week. Raw meat and seafood should be packed separately and stored for no more than 3 days. Raw and cooked foods must be stored in different containers to prevent cross-contamination. Vegetables and fruits should be wrapped in film and stored in the crisper.
  • Freezer: Wrap food in freezer-safe cling wrap, bags, or containers before freezing. Frozen food should not be refrozen after thawing and should be consumed as quickly as possible. Sealed packages help prevent freezer burn.
  • General: Do not obstruct the air outlet with food. Allow hot food to cool to room temperature before placing it in the fridge. Avoid overcrowding the refrigerating chamber to ensure proper cold air circulation. Minimize door openings to reduce cold air loss and extend storage periods. In case of a power loss, reduce door openings and avoid adding new food. If a power outage is anticipated, make extra ice cubes and place them in a watertight container in the upper refrigerating chamber.

Door Mullion:

The door mullion must be folded inward as shown in figure 2 of the manual before closing the door. Attempting to close the door with the mullion unfolded (as in figure 1) can cause damage. The door mullion is equipped with a heater to prevent condensation, which is a normal phenomenon and does not affect frozen food.

Door Handle Installation:

Handles are installed by first screwing locating bolts into the door body. Then, loosen the locking screw inside the handle with a hexagonal wrench, align the handle with the positioning bolt, and insert it. Finally, tighten the locking screw once the handle fits perfectly.

Door Bin Installation:

Place the door bin above its mounting position and push it down firmly until it cannot move further, indicating secure installation.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning:

The refrigerator should be cleaned regularly to prevent unpleasant odors. Before cleaning, always unplug the power cord. Use a soft towel or sponge dipped in warm water (with neutral detergent if needed) to clean the cabinet, excluding the door seal. Clean the door seal with rinsing water and wipe it dry. Do not spray water directly onto the refrigerator, especially electrical components. Use a dry rag for electrical components. Avoid using hard brushes, wire brushes, strong detergents, gasoline, lacquer thinner, acetone, other organic solvents, hot water, or acid/alkali for cleaning.

Defrosting:

This is a frost-free refrigerator, so manual defrosting is not required.

Lighting Replacement:

If the LED lighting is damaged, the lampshade and thermostat should be moved 3-5mm in the direction of the arrow to remove them. Then, pull the connection terminal, use a screwdriver to remove the LED light board, and replace it. Note that LED lamp replacement should be performed by professionals to avoid damage.

Disposal:

When disposing of the refrigerator, remove the door and door seal to prevent child entrapment. Leave shelves in place. This appliance contains flammable refrigerant (isobutane R600a) and cyclopentane (R141b) in the cabinet insulation. It must be disposed of according to local regulations for electrical consumer goods recycling and refrigerant recovery. Do not damage the pipework at the back during transportation to prevent refrigerant gas leakage. The plug should be rendered useless, and the cable cut off directly behind the appliance to prevent misuse.

Troubleshooting Tips:

The manual includes a troubleshooting section for common issues such as the refrigerator not working, unusual smells, insufficient cooling, lighting not working, compressor running for a long time, and noisy operation. It advises checking power connections, food wrapping, cleanliness, door closure, placement, ventilation, and leveling. If issues persist, contact the after-sales service department or an authorized maintenance department.
