This document is an owner's and installation manual for Garrison Portable Air Conditioners, specifically models 311438113 and 311438115. It provides comprehensive information on safety precautions, installation procedures, operating instructions, maintenance, and troubleshooting tips for the device.
Function Description
The Garrison Portable Air Conditioner is designed to provide cooling, heating (on some models), dehumidification, and fan-only operation for indoor spaces. It is a local air conditioner, meaning it is designed for a single room or area. The unit is equipped with wheels for easy mobility and can be controlled via a unit control panel or a remote controller (for remote control models).
The primary functions include:
- Cooling Mode: Reduces room temperature within a range of 17-35°C (62-95°F).
- Heating Mode (Heat Pump Type): Provides heating within a range of 5-30°C (41-86°F).
- Heating Mode (Electrical Heat Type): Provides heating up to 30°C (86°F).
- Dry Mode (Dehumidification): Removes moisture from the air, operating at a low fan speed within a temperature range of 13-35°C (55-95°F).
- Fan Mode: Circulates air without cooling or heating, offering multiple fan speed settings (LOW, MED, HIGH, AUTO).
- AUTO Mode: Automatically selects cooling, heating, or fan-only operation based on the set temperature and current room temperature.
- Timer Function: Allows users to set AUTO ON start times and AUTO OFF stop times.
- SLEEP/ECO Operation: Adjusts the set temperature gradually over time to optimize comfort and energy efficiency during sleep.
- SWING Feature: Automatically adjusts the horizontal louver blade for even air distribution.
- Wireless Function (on some models): Enables remote control and monitoring via a wireless connection.
- FOLLOW ME/TEMP SENSING Feature (on some models): Uses the remote control as a remote thermostat for precise temperature control at its location.
- AUTO-RESTART: Automatically restarts with previous settings after a power interruption.
- VENT CONTROL Feature (for MODEL B): Allows for the removal of stale air from the room and exhaustion to the outside, drawing in fresh air through normal passages.
Important Technical Specifications
- Refrigerant Type: The manual mentions R290 and R32 refrigerants. Specific models may use one of these. For R290 models, a table provides minimum room area requirements based on the amount of refrigerant (e.g., >0.0836 and ≤0.1045 kg requires 4 m², >0.2926 and ≤0.3040 kg requires 15 m²).
- Power Supply: The unit requires a properly grounded wall receptacle with appropriate voltage, as indicated on the nameplate.
- Circuit Protection: The unit's circuit board (PCB) includes a fuse for overcurrent protection (e.g., T 3.15A/250V).
- Exhaust Duct: Standard installation uses an unextended exhaust duct with a diameter of 150mm and a length of 1.5m. Some models may support a 3m extended exhaust duct (Diameter: 150mm, Length: 1.5m + Diameter: 130mm, Length: 1.5m), though energy rating and noise information for such configurations are not assessed.
- Installation Clearance: The unit should be located at least 30cm (12") from the nearest wall, and the horizontal louver blade should be at least 50cm (19.7") away from obstacles.
- Temperature Setting Range: 17°C~30°C (62°F~86°F or 88°F).
- Timer Setting Range: 0~24 hours.
- Power Cord: Equipped with a three-prong grounding plug. The length should not be modified, and an extension cord should not be used.
Usage Features
- Mobility: Equipped with wheels for easy movement, though caution is advised on thick carpets or when rolling over objects to prevent tipping.
- Control Panel: Intuitive interface with buttons for MODE, TIMER, SWING, FAN, SLEEP, and temperature adjustment (+/-). Indicators for various modes, fan speeds, timer status, and wireless connection are present.
- LED Display: Shows set temperature (°C or °F), auto-timer settings, and room temperature in DRY and FAN modes. Also displays error codes (E1-E4, EC) and a "P1" indicator for a full bottom tray.
- Water Drainage: Features a bottom tray that collects water. When full, the unit beeps and displays "P1," stopping cooling/dehumidification. Users must manually drain the collected water using a drain hose. Continuous drainage is possible in dehumidifying and heating pump modes by installing a drain connector and hose.
- Power Management Feature (on some models): Automatically stops the compressor and fan motor when ambient temperature is lower than the set temperature for a period, resuming operation when the temperature rises.
- Safety Features: Includes a 3-minute delay before restarting the compressor to protect the unit. Warnings against operating the unit without an air filter are provided.
Maintenance Features
- Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter should be cleaned every 2 weeks for optimal performance. Instructions are provided for removing and cleaning the upper and lower air filters.
- Unit Cleaning: The unit should be cleaned with a damp, lint-free cloth and mild detergent, then dried with a dry, lint-free cloth. Harsh cleansers, wax, or polish should be avoided.
- Water Tray Drainage: The water collection tray must be drained immediately after a "P1" error and before storage to prevent mold.
- Storage: Before storing, the unit should be drained, run on FAN mode for 12 hours to dry, unplugged, cleaned, and the air filter reinstalled. Batteries should be removed from the remote control. The unit should be stored in a cool, dark place away from direct sunshine or extreme heat.
- Refrigerant Handling: For units using flammable refrigerants (R32/R290), specific safety checks and procedures for servicing, repair, and decommissioning are outlined, emphasizing the need for certified technicians and adherence to national regulations. This includes checks for ignition sources, ventilation, and proper recovery of refrigerants.
