Overview

This document provides instructions for the installation and use of the Gasland Chef Electric Induction Cooktop, available in models IH30BFH and IH77BFH.

Function Description

The Gasland Chef Electric Induction Cooktop utilizes advanced, efficient, and economical induction cooking technology. It operates by generating electromagnetic vibrations that directly heat the pan, rather than indirectly heating the glass surface. The glass becomes hot only as the pan warms it up.

Key Features:

  • Multiple Cooking Zones: The IH30BFH model features 2 cooking zones, while the IH77BFH model offers 5 cooking zones.
  • Boost Function: This function allows a cooking zone to temporarily increase its power for faster cooking, lasting up to 5 minutes.
  • Flex Zone (IH30BFH & IH77BFH): This feature allows for a single large cooking zone or two different zones, adapting to cooking needs. The IH30BFH has one flex zone, and the IH77BFH has one 2500W flex zone with a boost to 2800W.
  • BBQ Function (IH30BFH & IH77BFH): This function is used with the flex zone to maintain a stable pan surface temperature suitable for barbecue.
  • Timer Control: The cooktop includes a timer that can be used as a minute minder or to turn off one or more cooking zones after a set time, up to 99 minutes.
  • Keep Warm Function: This feature is designed to maintain food at a stable warm temperature.
  • Keylock Control: This function locks the controls to prevent unintended use, such as accidental activation by children.
  • STOP+GO (Pause Function): This allows users to pause cooking at any time and resume later.
  • Automatic Shutdown Protection: A safety feature that automatically halts operation if the cooktop is left on for an extended period without user interaction. The default working times vary by power level.
  • Overheating Protection: An integrated temperature sensor monitors the cooktop's internal temperature and automatically halts operation if excessive temperatures are detected.
  • Small Object Detection: If an unsuitable pan (non-magnetic, too small) or small objects (knife, fork, keys) are left on the cooktop, it will switch to standby mode after 1 minute.

Usage Features

Using the Touch Controls: Controls respond to touch; no pressure is needed. Use the ball of the finger. A beep confirms each touch. Controls must be clean and dry, free of objects or water film.

Choosing the Right Cookware:

  • Only use cookware with a base suitable for induction cooking (look for the induction symbol).
  • Perform a magnet test: if a magnet attracts to the pan's base, it is suitable.
  • Alternatively, place water in the pan; if the display does not flash and the water heats, the pan is suitable.
  • Unsuitable materials include pure stainless steel, aluminum or copper without a magnetic base, glass, wood, porcelain, ceramic, and earthenware.
  • Avoid cookware with jagged edges or curved bases.
  • Pans should have a smooth, flat base, resting evenly on the glass.
  • Use pans with a diameter larger than the selected zone's outline for maximum efficiency. Pans smaller than 5½ inches may not be detected. Always center the pan on the cooking zone.

Cooking Instructions:

  • Reduce temperature once food reaches boiling point.
  • Use a cover to reduce cooking time and save energy.
  • Reduce liquid or fat quantity to shorten cooking time.
  • Start cooking at a high temperature and reduce the setting for reheating.
  • Gentle Heat/Cooking Rice: Simmer below boiling point (around 85°C/185°F) for delicate warming, melting, gentle simmering, and cooking rice.
  • Searing Steaks: Place meat at room temperature, heat a thick-bottomed frying pan, coat steak with oil, drizzle oil in the hot pan, and cook. Turn once during cooking.

Heat Settings (Indicative):

  • 1-2: Delicate warming, melting chocolate/butter, gentle simmering, slow warming.
  • 3-4: Reheating, rapid simmering, cooking rice.
  • 5-6: Pancakes, sautéing.
  • 7-8: Cooking pasta, stir-frying, searing.
  • 9: Bringing soup to boil, boiling water.

Maintenance Features

Everyday Stains (finger marks, food spots):

  1. Cut off power to cooktop.
  2. Apply detergent to the cooktop while the glass is still hot (but not burning).
  3. Rinse and wipe with a clean cloth or paper towel.
  4. Switch on the cooktop.

Spills and Hot Sugars:

  1. Cut off power to cooktop.
  2. Hold a blade or utensil at a 30° angle and scrape off dirt or liquid from the cold surface.
  3. Clean with a paper or cloth towel.
  4. Follow steps 2-4 for "Everyday Stains."

Spillage on Touch Setting Controls:

  1. Cut off power to cooktop.
  2. Mop up the spill.
  3. Wipe the surface with a clean, damp cloth or sponge.
  4. Wipe the zone completely dry with a paper towel.
  5. Switch on cooktop.

Important Maintenance Notes:

  • When power is off, the "surface hot" display may not show, but the cooking zone can still be hot. Exercise extreme caution.
  • Avoid sponges, nylon scourers, and abrasive cleaning agents that can scratch the glass. Always check detergent labels.
  • Never leave detergent residues on the cooking surface, as this can cause stains.
  • Remove spots from sugary food and spills as soon as possible, as they can be difficult to remove or cause irreparable damage if left to cool.
  • Use scraping blades with extreme care and store them safely out of reach of children.
  • If liquid is on the touch controls, the cooktop may beep, turn off, and the keys may not work. Ensure the surface is dry before switching on.
  • Do not dismantle the appliance yourself to prevent dangers and damage. Contact a qualified technician for any abnormalities or repairs.
