Usage Features
The cooktop utilizes touch controls that respond to the ball of the finger, not the tip, with an audible beep confirming each touch. It is crucial to keep the controls clean and dry, free from any objects or water film, to ensure proper operation.
Starting the Cooktop:
- After powering on, the cooktop buzzes once, and indicators light up for 1 second, entering standby mode.
- To start, touch the ON/OFF control. All indicators will show "–".
- Select a cooking zone by touching its selection control and then adjust the heating stage using the "+" or "–" controls.
- For models with dual/triple/oval zones, these can be activated by pressing the respective control.
Finishing Cooking:
- Turn off the cooking zone by scrolling down to "0" or by touching the "–" or "+" control to adjust the heating stage.
- Turn off the entire cooktop by touching the ON/OFF control.
- A "H" indicator will appear on hot surfaces, indicating residual heat. This can be used as an energy-saving function to heat further pans.
Locking Controls:
- Controls can be locked to prevent unintended use, especially by children.
- For CH30BF and CH90BF, touch the keylock control; "Lo" will appear. To unlock, touch and hold the keylock control.
- For CH60BF, CH603BF, CH604BF, CH77BF, touch the "+" and "–" controls simultaneously; "Lo" will appear. To unlock, touch and hold "+" and "–" controls.
- When locked, all controls except ON/OFF are disabled. The cooktop can be turned off in an emergency, but must be unlocked for the next operation.
Keep Warm Function (CH60BF, CH603BF, CH90BF):
- Select a heating zone and touch the keep warm button (represented by a wavy line with an 'A' or 'B' inside). The indicator will display "A".
- To cancel, touch the keep warm button again; the heating zone will return to "0" power.
Pause Function - STOP&GO (CH60BF, CH603BF, CH604BF, CH77BF, CH90BF):
- Allows pausing cooking and resuming later.
- Touch the STOP&GO button; the cooking zone indicator will show "||". All cooking zones, except STOP&GO, ON/OFF, and lock keys, will deactivate.
- To cancel, touch the STOP&GO button again; the cooking zone will return to its previous power stage.
Over-Temperature Protection:
- A temperature sensor monitors the internal temperature. If excessive temperature is detected, the cooktop automatically stops operation.
Residual Heat Warning:
- After use, "H" appears on the display to warn of hot surfaces.
Auto Shutdown Protection:
- The cooktop automatically shuts down if a cooking zone is left on for an extended period. Default working times range from 8 hours for power levels 1-3 to 2 hours for power levels 7-9.
Using the Timer:
- As a Minute Minder:
- Ensure the cooktop is on.
- Touch the timer control; "30" will flash.
- Adjust time using "+" or "–" (1 minute per touch, 10 minutes per hold). Max 99 minutes.
- To cancel, touch the timer control; "00" then "– –" will appear.
- Once set, the timer counts down, and the indicator flashes for 5 seconds. A 30-second beep sounds when time is up, and "– –" appears. The cooktop continues cooking as this is a minute minder only.
- To Turn One Cooking Zone Off:
- Select the desired heating zone.
- Touch the timer control; "30" will flash.
- Adjust time using "+" or "–".
- To cancel, touch the heating zone control, then the timer control; "00" then "– –" will appear.
- When set, the timer counts down, and the indicator flashes for 5 seconds. A red dot next to the power level indicator shows the selected zone.
- When the timer expires, the cooking zone automatically switches off and shows "H".
- To Turn More Than One Cooking Zone Off:
- Set the timer for the first zone. The timer indicator will show the shortest time set.
- Select another heating zone and set its timer. The indicator will show the shortest remaining time.
- A flashing red dot next to the power level indicator shows the heating zone whose timer is currently displayed.
- When a timer expires, the corresponding zone switches off and shows "H".
Cooking Guidelines:
- Frying: Exercise caution with oil and fat, especially when using Power Boost, as high temperatures can cause fire.
- Simmering/Cooking Rice: Use low to medium heat. Bubbles should rise gently.
- Searing Steak: Preheat pan, add oil, sear both sides, then reduce heat to finish cooking. Rest the steak before serving.
- Stir-frying: Use a ceramic compatible flat-bottomed wok or large frying pan. Prepare ingredients in advance. Preheat pan with oil, then stir-fry vegetables, add meat, and return to pan.
Heat Settings (General Guidelines):
- 1-2: Delicate warming, melting chocolate/butter, gentle simmering, slow warming.
- 3-4: Reheating, rapid simmering, cooking rice.
- 5-6: Pancakes, sautéing.
- 7-8: Cooking pasta, stir-frying.
- 9: Searing, bringing soup to boil, boiling water.
Troubleshooting:
- Cooktop cannot be turned on: Check power supply and switch. If problem persists, contact a qualified technician.
- Touch controls unresponsive: Controls may be locked (unlock them) or covered by a thin film of water (clean and dry them).
- Glass scratched: Avoid rough-edged cookware, scourers, or harsh/abrasive cleaning agents.
- Pans making cracking/clicking noises: Normal for cookware made of different metals vibrating differently.
Error Codes:
- E1 (Short circuit of heating element sensor): Shut down, restart, or contact seller.
- E2 (Heating element sensor damaged): Contact seller.
- E3 (Cooktop surface temperature too high): Turn off, let cool, then restart.
- E4 (Open circuit of heating element sensor): Shut down, restart, or contact seller.
Maintenance Features
Choosing the Right Cookware:
- Use cookware with smooth, flat bases that sit flat against the glass and are the same size as the cooking zone.
- Avoid cookware with jagged edges or curved bases.
- Lift pans off the cooktop; do not slide them to prevent scratching.
Care and Cleaning:
- Everyday Soiling (fingerprints, marks, stains, non-sugary spillovers):
- Switch off power.
- Apply ceramic cooktop cleaner while the glass is still warm (not hot).
- Rinse and wipe dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.
- Switch power back on.
- Important: Be extremely careful as the cooking zone may still be hot even without the 'hot surface' indication. Avoid heavy-duty scourers or harsh/abrasive cleaners as they can scratch the glass. Never leave cleaning residue.
- Boilovers, Melts, Hot Sugary Spills:
- Switch off power at the wall.
- Immediately remove with a fish slice, palette knife, or razor blade scraper (suitable for ceramic glass cooktops) at a 30° angle, scraping towards a cool area.
- Clean up with a dishcloth or paper towel.
- Follow steps for 'Everyday soiling'.
- Important: Remove stains as soon as possible to prevent permanent damage. Be aware of the razor-sharp blade of the scraper.
- Spills on Touch Controls:
- Switch off power.
- Soak up the spill.
- Wipe the control area with a clean damp sponge or cloth.
- Wipe completely dry with a paper towel.
- Switch power back on.
- Important: Liquid on controls can cause beeping, automatic shutdown, or malfunction. Ensure the area is dry before turning the cooktop back on.
Installation:
- Installation must be performed by qualified personnel or technicians.
- The cooktop should not be mounted to cooling equipment, dishwashers, or rotary dryers.
- Ensure proper heat radiation.
- The wall and induced heating zone above the work surface must withstand heat.
- The sandwich layer and adhesive must be heat-resistant.
- Do not use a steam cleaner for cleaning.
- The safety distance between the cooktop and the cupboard above should be at least 760mm.
- The appliance must be connected to a good earth wiring system and incorporate an isolating switch for full disconnection from the power supply.
- The supply cable must be checked regularly and replaced by a qualified person if damaged.
