VOLUME
CONTROL
When
in
PLAY
mode, adjust volume control to your preferred
listening
level.
When

VOLUME
control is used to fine
tune the sensitivity of the
built-in
(or
external)
microphone for re-
cord operations.
AUTOMATIC
VOICE
ACTIVATED
RECORDING
(AVR)
This
recorder
has
an
AVR
feature which allows it to
sense
sound
and
to record only when you are speaking
into
the microphone.
When
dictation stops for approximately 3
seconds,
tape opera-
tion
will stop. Operation will start again when you resume your
dictation.
AUTOMATIC
VOICE
ACTIVATED
RECORDING
(AVR) SWITCH
ON Position — A tape
saver.
Ideal feature to allow for hands-
free
operation during dictation. When
unit
is in
RECORD
mode,
it will record only when you are speaking
into
the microphone.
OFF
Position
—
The AVR
circuit is disconnected and recording
is
continuous when
unit
is in
RECORD
mode.
MIC SENSITIVITY SWITCH
This
two-position switch enables selection tetween two micro-
phone sensitivity
levels...
• HI for maximum sensitivity for conferences or general use,
and,
• LO for a lower sensitivity level for dictation purposes.
TO
RECORD
WITH
AVR
FEATURE
1.
Place
AVR switch in "ON" position.
2.
Press
RECORD
button
(PLAY
button
will
depress
simultane-
ously).
If the
RECORD
button
will not depress, see
"PREVENTING
ACCIDENTAL
ERASURE"
page 7.
3.
Select
HI or LO
with
the MIC
SENSITIVITY
switch.
4.
Adjust
VOLUME
control so that the sensitivity of the MIC
(built-in
or
external)
is at the
point
where your voice level will
just activate the
AVR
circuitry and automatically start record
operation.
NOTE:
The first syllable or two may be lost when you start
recording
since
this "sound" is
used
to
turn
AVR
"on". It
is
a
good
practice, therefore, to make some sound or
say
a short
word to activate
AVR
before you begin actual dictation.
Variations
in voice level during record operation will not
cause
the
unit
to stop recording. Unit will automatically stop
recording when you
cease
talking for a period of approx-
imately 3 seconds.
5.
When you finish recording, push
STOP/EJECT
button.
