How to remove black or gray marks on dishes from my GE GD 450 Dishwasher?
    • K
      Kristie PattonSep 6, 2025
If you notice black or gray marks on your dishes, it's likely that aluminum utensils have rubbed against them. Remove the marks with a mild, abrasive cleaner.

Why are my dishes and flatware not clean in my GE GD 450?
    • A
      amber49Nov 20, 2025
There are several reasons why your dishes and flatware might not be getting clean. It could be that the Ultra-Fine Filter assembly or Fine Filter is clogged. Another reason might be low inlet water temperature, so ensure the inlet water temperature is correct by running the hot water faucet nearest the dishwasher until the water temperature stops rising. Also, check if the water pressure is temporarily low. Other potential causes include a clogged air gap or disposer, improper rack loading, or poor performing detergent. Normal water pressure to the dishwasher should be 20-120 psi. If the high drain loop or air gap is not installed, refer to the Installation Instructions for proper drain line installation. Make sure large dishware does not block the detergent dispenser or the wash arms. Use...

How to handle stained tub interior in my GE GD 450 Dishwasher?
    • M
      martinmichaelSep 16, 2025
Some tomato-based foods can cause reddish stains; use of the Steam Sani cycle (on some models) after adding the dish to the load can decrease the level of staining. For tea or coffee stains, remove the stain by hand, using a solution of 1/2 cup bleach and 3 cups warm water. An overall yellow or brown film can be caused by iron deposits in water; a special filter in the water supply line is the only way to correct this problem. For white film on the inside surface caused by hard water minerals, run dishwasher with citric acid to remove mineral deposits.

Why does my GE Dishwasher have long cycle times?
    • T
      Tyler TerrySep 9, 2025
Longer cycles are normal because the dishwasher washes by alternating mid and lower spray arms. For best wash and dry performance, let the cycle complete. On some models, the turbidity sensor senses how much soil is on the dishes, and heavily soiled dish loads will add more time to the cycle.

What does it mean when my GE Dishwasher start status indicator light is flashing?
    • J
      James HudsonSep 7, 2025
If the start status indicator light is flashing, it means the door was opened or the cycle was interrupted. Press the Start pad once and close the door within 4 seconds to start the dishwasher. Press and hold, for 3 seconds, the Start pad a second time when the dishwasher is running only if you wish to cancel the cycle. If problem persists, call for service.

What to do if my GE Dishwasher won't run?
    • D
      David AustinAug 23, 2025
If your dishwasher isn't running, check a few things. First, see if a fuse is blown or the circuit breaker is tripped, and replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker if needed. Ensure the power is turned on. Also, check if the control panel is locked and unlock it if necessary. If a Critical Fault is present, call for service.
