Why does my GE Dishwasher have long cycle times?
    • L
      Lauren OwensSep 14, 2025
Long cycle times on your GE dishwasher can be attributed to: * Alternating spray arms: The dishwasher washes by alternating between the mid and lower spray arms, which can extend the cycle. Longer cycles are normal. For best wash and dry performance, let the cycle complete. * Soil level: On some models, the turbidity sensor detects the amount of soil on the dishes. Heavily soiled dish loads will add more time to the cycle, which is normal. For best wash and dry performance, allow the cycle to complete.

Why are there suds in the tub of my GE GDF535 Dishwasher?
    • J
      John BradshawSep 13, 2025
Suds in the tub of your GE dishwasher can be caused by: * Using the wrong detergent: Use only high-quality automatic dishwasher detergents to avoid sudsing. Cascade® Platinum™ ActionPacs™ or Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergent have been approved for use in all GE Appliances dishwashers. To remove suds from the tub, open the dishwasher and let suds dissipate. Pump out water by pressing Start and close the door. Wait 30 seconds. Open the door, press and hold Start for 3 seconds, and close the door. Repeat if necessary. * Spilled rinse agent: Always wipe up rinse agent spills immediately.

What does it mean when my GE GDF535 start status indicator light is flashing?
    • B
      bonnie05Sep 12, 2025
If the start status indicator light is flashing, it means the door was opened or the cycle was interrupted. Press the Start pad once and close the door within 4 seconds to start the dishwasher. Press and hold, for 3 seconds, the Start pad a second time when the dishwasher is running only if you wish to cancel the cycle. If problem persists, call for service.

How to stop cloudiness on glassware in my GE GDF535 Dishwasher?
    • S
      scott53Sep 12, 2025
Cloudiness on glassware can occur if you have a combination of soft water and are using too much detergent; this is called etching and is permanent, so use less detergent if you have soft water. Also, if the water temperature entering the dishwasher exceeds 150°F (66°C), lower the water heater temperature.

What to do if water won’t pump out of the tub of my GE Dishwasher?
    • M
      Miguel LarsenAug 26, 2025
If water won’t pump out of the tub of your GE dishwasher, it's likely due to a clogged drain. If you have an air gap, clean it. If the dishwasher drains into a disposer, run disposer clear. Check to see if your kitchen sink is draining well. If not, you may need a plumber.

How to fix spots and filming on glasses and flatware in GE GDF535?
    • C
      Charles HarperSep 9, 2025
Spots and filming on glasses and flatware can be due to several factors. If you have extremely hard water, use high quality rinse agents such as Cascade® Platinum™ Power Dry™ Rinse Aid or Finish® Jet-Dry® Rinse Aid. Ensure the inlet water temperature is at least 120°F (49°C). Avoid overloading or improperly loading the dishwasher. Make sure your powder detergent is fresh, and refill the rinse agent dispenser with high quality rinse agents if it's empty. Also, ensure you are using the proper amount of highly rated detergent.

What to do if there is cloudiness on glassware in my GE GDF535 Dishwasher?
    • C
      chaneymelissaSep 7, 2025
Cloudiness on glassware can be due to a few reasons: * A combination of soft water and too much detergent can cause etching, which is permanent. To prevent this, use less detergent if you have soft water and wash glassware in the shortest cycle that will get it clean. * Low-performing phosphate-free detergent. See A white film on glassware, dishware, and the interior in this TROUBLESHOOTING section. * Water temperature entering the dishwasher exceeding 150°F (66°C). Lower the water heater temperature.
