    • W
      williamsericSep 9, 2025
If the Smart Assist light is red, a potential problem has been detected with your machine. Use the SmartHQ App to identify and troubleshoot the potential problem. If you are not connected to WiFi, check your display for any codes and call for service.

Why are my dishes and flatware not clean in my GE GDF670?
    • L
      Leslie MillerAug 22, 2025
There are several reasons why your dishes and flatware might not be clean. The Ultra-Fine Filter or Fine Filter could be clogged. The inlet water temperature might be too low. The water pressure could be temporarily low. The air gap or disposer might be clogged. The high drain loop or air gap might not be installed correctly. You might be improperly loading the rack, or you might be using a poor-performing detergent. Make sure that large dishware does not block the detergent dispenser or the wash arms. Normal water pressure to the dishwasher should be 20-120 psi. Use high quality detergents such as Cascade® Platinum™ ActionPacs™ or Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergent.

Why are there black or gray marks on dishes in my GE GDF670?
    • S
      Steven GarciaSep 6, 2025
Black or gray marks on dishes are usually caused by aluminum utensils rubbing against the dishes. Remove marks with a mild, abrasive cleaner.

Why won’t water pump out of the tub of my GE GDF670 Dishwasher?
    • H
      Hector LopezSep 4, 2025
If water won’t pump out of the tub, the drain is likely clogged. If you have an air gap, clean it. If the dishwasher drains into a disposer, run the disposer to clear it. Check to see if your kitchen sink is draining well. If not, you may need a plumber.

Why is there water standing in the bottom of my GE GDF670 tub?
    • W
      willisdouglasSep 3, 2025
If there's water standing in the bottom of the tub, the air gap might be clogged. Clean the air gap. Also, check if the high drain loop or air gap is not installed; refer to the Installation Instructions for proper drain line installation.

How to fix a white film on glassware, dishware, and the interior of my GE Dishwasher?
    • H
      hmillerSep 2, 2025
A white film is likely caused by a low-quality phosphate-free dishwasher detergent. To remove it, run a cycle with citric acid (WD35X151 kit found online) or use high-quality rinse agents like Cascade® Platinum™ Dishwasher Cleaner or Finish® Dishwasher Cleaner. Pour citric acid into the detergent cup, load filmed items (excluding silverware), and run a complete cycle without detergent. Alternatively, use a vinegar rinse: pour 1 cup of vinegar into the dishwasher just after the detergent cup opens and complete the cycle. Repeat as needed. Use high quality detergents such as Cascade® Platinum™ ActionPacs™ or Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergent to help prevent film build-up.

What does it mean when the start status indicator light is flashing on my GE GDF670 Dishwasher?
    • C
      craig68Aug 31, 2025
A flashing start status indicator light means the door was opened or the cycle was interrupted. To resolve this, press the Start pad once and close the door within 4 seconds to start the dishwasher. Press the Start pad a second time when the dishwasher is running only if you wish to cancel the cycle.

How to fix cloudiness on glassware in my GE GDF670 Dishwasher?
    • A
      anthonynicholsonAug 30, 2025
Cloudiness on glassware can be caused by a combination of soft water and too much detergent. This is called etching and is permanent. To prevent this, use less detergent if you have soft water and wash glassware in the shortest cycle that will get it clean. It can also be caused by low performing phosphate-free detergent, see A white film on glassware, dishware and the interior in this TROUBLESHOOTING section, or water temperature entering the dishwasher exceeding 150°F, which could also be etching, so lower the water heater temperature.

Why is my GE GDF670 beeping at the end of the cycle?
    • A
      Angela CrawfordAug 27, 2025
The dishwasher beeps twice at the end of the cycle. To turn off the double beep indicator (or re-activate it if it was previously turned off), press the Dry Boost pad 5 times within 3 seconds. A triple beep will sound to indicate the end-of-cycle beep option has been turned on or off.

Why are my dishes not drying in my GE GDF670?
    • E
      Erin ThompsonAug 27, 2025
Dishes not drying can be due to low inlet water temperature. Make sure inlet water temperature is at least 120°F. Select Boost Dry. Use Boost option. Select a higher cycle, such as Steam-Sani, Presoak- Sani, or Sanitize. Also, the rinse agent dispenser might be empty; check and fill as required. Additional drying time may be needed; leave the door closed after the Clean light appears to allow the fan to run an additional 90 minutes. Note: If you open the door, this fan extension will be cancelled.
