Why is my GE GDT535-635 Dishwasher control panel responding to inputs but not filling with water?
    • E
      Eileen SavageSep 2, 2025
If the control panel responds but the dishwasher doesn't fill with water, make sure the door is firmly closed. Also, check that the water valve (usually under the sink) is turned on. The flood float may also be stuck; remove the Ultra-Fine Filter assembly and lightly tap the dome-like piece under it, then replace the filter.

Why don't my dishes dry in GE GDT535-635?
    • T
      Taylor CaldwellAug 25, 2025
Several factors can affect drying performance. Ensure the inlet water temperature is at least 120°F. Select Heated Dry or Dry Boost, and consider using Wash Temp Boost or a higher cycle like Steam Sani or Heavy. Check and fill the rinse agent dispenser if it's empty. On some models, leaving the door closed after the Clean light appears allows the fan to run for an additional 90 minutes. Also, if you are using a Light cycle, switch to a different cycle.

Why are my dishes and flatware not clean in my GE GDT535-635 Dishwasher?
    • J
      James SmithNov 26, 2025
If your GE Dishwasher isn't cleaning dishes and flatware properly, several factors could be at play. Check if the Ultra-Fine Filter or Fine Filter is clogged, and refer to the Care and Cleaning section for instructions. Ensure the inlet water temperature is correct by running the hot water faucet nearest the dishwasher until the temperature stops rising, then start the dishwasher. Low water pressure can also be a culprit, so check if water is coming out of the faucet more slowly than usual. Additionally, a clogged air gap or disposer, or an improperly installed high drain loop or air gap, can cause this issue. Proper rack loading is crucial; make sure large dishware isn't blocking the detergent dispenser or the wash arms, and position large utensils correctly in the silverware basket. Fina...

How to remove stains from the tub interior of my GE GDT535-635 Dishwasher?
    • J
      Jamie CarlsonSep 9, 2025
If your GE Dishwasher tub interior is stained, it could be due to several factors. Tomato-based foods can cause reddish stains; using the Steam Sani cycle after adding the dish can help decrease staining. Tea or coffee stains can be removed by hand with a solution of 1/2 cup bleach and 3 cups warm water, but avoid using bleach on stainless steel inner doors and wait at least 20 minutes after a cycle before cleaning. An overall yellow or brown film can be caused by iron deposits in water, which requires a special filter in the water supply line. White film can be caused by hard water minerals; use Finish® Jet-Dry® Rinse Aid and run the dishwasher with citric acid or Finish® Dishwasher Cleaner.

Why do control panel lights go off on GE GDT535-635 Dishwasher?
    • M
      meghanwoodSep 18, 2025
If the control panel lights on your GE Dishwasher go off while you're setting controls, it's because there's too much time between touching the selected buttons. Each pad must be touched within 30 seconds of the others. To relight the panel, touch any pad again or open the door and unlock it (top control).

Why is there water standing in the bottom of my GE GDT535-635 tub?
    • C
      Colton PattersonSep 6, 2025
Water standing in the bottom of the tub could be due to a clogged air gap. Clean the air gap. Alternatively, a high drain loop or air gap might not be installed; refer to the Installation Instructions for proper drain line installation.

Why are my GE Dishwasher dishes not drying?
    • J
      Joshua MillerAug 31, 2025
If your dishes aren't drying, several factors could be the cause. Ensure the inlet water temperature is at least 120°F. Select Heated Dry or Dry Boost. Use Wash Temp Boost. Select a higher cycle, such as Steam Sani or Heavy. Check the rinse agent dispenser and fill as required. On some models, leaving the door closed after the Clean light appears allows the fan to run an additional 90 minutes. Note: If you open the door, this fan extension will be cancelled. If using Light cycle which uses lower water temperature and thus limited dry performance, switch to a different cycle. Allow cycles to fully complete. See Long cycle times in this Troubleshooting Tips section.

Why Sanitized light does not illuminate at the end of the cycle on GE GDT535-635 Dishwasher?
    • C
      camposandreaSep 18, 2025
If the Sanitized light does not illuminate at the end of the cycle on your GE Dishwasher, it may be because the door was opened and the cycle was interrupted during the final rinse. Avoid interrupting the cycle by opening the door during the wash cycle. Also, the incoming water temperature may have been too low. Raise the water heater temperature to between 120°F and 150°F.

Why are there suds in my GE GDT535-635 Dishwasher tub?
    • D
      Daniel AlexanderSep 14, 2025
Suds in the tub are usually caused by using the wrong detergent or spilling rinse agent. Use only high-quality automatic dishwasher detergents like Cascade® Platinum™ ActionPacs™ or Finish® Quantum® Automatic Dishwashing Detergent. If rinse agent was spilled, wipe it up immediately. To remove suds, open the dishwasher and let them dissipate. Pump out water by pressing Start and close the door. Wait 30 seconds. Open the door, press and hold Start for 3 seconds, and close the door. Repeat if necessary.

Why is my GE GDT535-635 Dishwasher not filling with water?
    • R
      rphillipsAug 28, 2025
If the control panel responded to inputs but your GE Dishwasher never filled with water, make sure the door is firmly closed. Also, ensure the water valve (usually located under the sink) is turned on. The flood float may be stuck; remove the Ultra-Fine filter and lightly tap the piece under it that looks like a salt shaker, then replace the filter.
