Why is my GE PFW870 not draining, spinning, or tumbling?
    • K
      Kathryn SimpsonAug 3, 2025
If your GE Washer is not draining, spinning, or tumbling, it could be due to several reasons. First, the load might be unbalanced; try redistributing the clothes and running a Rinse & Spin cycle. If you're washing a small load with heavy and light items, increase the load size. Also, the pump filter might be clogged; refer to the Care and Cleaning section for instructions on cleaning it. Ensure the drain hose isn't kinked or that the washer isn't sitting on it, and check your household plumbing for clogs, calling a plumber if necessary. Finally, make sure the drain hose isn't siphoning by ensuring there's an air gap between the hose and drain and that it's not inserted more than 7 inches into the drain pipe.

What to do if GE PFW870 Washer has no power or is not working?
    • J
      Joyce HawkinsAug 7, 2025
If your GE Washer has no power or isn't working, first, ensure the cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Then, check that both hot and cold water faucets are fully turned on. Also, inspect your house's circuit breakers or fuses, replacing fuses or resetting the breaker as needed, ensuring the washer has a separate outlet. If it's the first time the washer is plugged in, automatic system checks occur, which may take up to 20 seconds before you can use the washer; this is normal.

Why are the clothes too wet after washing in my GE PFW870?
    • A
      Anthony SullivanAug 16, 2025
If your GE Washer leaves clothes too wet, it could be due to a few reasons. The load might be out of balance, so try redistributing the clothes and running a Rinse & Spin cycle. The pump filter may be clogged; see the Care and Cleaning section for cleaning instructions. Overloading the washer can also cause this issue; ensure the dry weight of the load is less than 16 lbs. Check that the drain hose isn't kinked or that the washer isn't sitting on it. Lastly, make sure the drain hose isn't siphoning by ensuring there's an air gap between the hose and drain and that it's not inserted more than 7 inches into the drain pipe. Also, check your household plumbing for clogs, calling a plumber if necessary.

How to stop loud noise, vibration, or shaking in my GE PFW870 Washer?
    • J
      James PerezAug 21, 2025
If your GE Washer is making loud or unusual noises, vibrating, or shaking, several factors could be responsible. The washer is designed to move slightly (about 1/4 inch) to reduce forces transmitted to the floor, which is normal. Ensure all rubber leveling legs are firmly touching the floor by pushing and pulling on the back of the washer to check its level, adjusting the legs as needed and locking them in place. An unbalanced load can also cause this; pause the unit, open the door, and manually redistribute the load. To test the machine, run a rinse and spin cycle with no load. If it runs normally, the unbalance was caused by the load. A clogged pump filter may also be the cause; refer to the Care and Cleaning section for instructions on cleaning the Pump Filter.

Why is my GE PFW870 cycle incomplete or the timer not advancing?
    • D
      Denise MaxwellAug 28, 2025
If your GE Washer cycle is incomplete or the timer isn't advancing, it could be due to the automatic load redistribution feature, which can add up to 3 minutes to the cycle for each rebalance, possibly doing 11 to 15 rebalances. This is normal, so allow the machine to finish the wash cycle. A clogged pump filter may also be the cause; refer to the Care and Cleaning section for instructions on cleaning the Pump Filter. Additionally, a kinked or improperly connected drain hose can cause this issue, so straighten the drain hose and ensure the washer isn't sitting on it. Also, check your household plumbing for clogs, calling a plumber if necessary. Finally, ensure the drain hose isn't siphoning by ensuring there's an air gap between the hose and drain.

Why is my GE Washer leaking water?
    • S
      Sean McdonaldNov 11, 2025
If your GE Washer is leaking water, there are several potential causes. The door gasket might be damaged; check if it's seated correctly and not torn, as objects left in pockets can cause damage. A small amount of water dripping from the door when opened is normal; wipe the rubber door seal carefully. Oversudsing can also cause leaks; use less detergent. Ensure fill and drain hoses are tightly connected at both the washer and faucets, and that the drain hose is correctly inserted and secured. A clogged dispenser, especially from powder soap, can cause leaks; remove the drawer and clean both it and the dispenser box. Note that laundry detergent packets should only be added directly to the wash basket. Lastly, check for cracks on the inside of the dispenser box, particularly if it's a new in...

Why does water not enter my GE PFW870 Washer or enters slowly?
    • P
      Paul WarnerNov 24, 2025
If water does not enter your GE Washer or enters slowly, it could be due to several reasons. After pressing Start, the washer performs system checks, so water will flow a few seconds after. The water valve screens might be clogged; turn off the water, remove the hoses from the back of the washer, and clean the screens with a brush or toothpick before reconnecting. Similarly, the inlet hose screen washers may be stopped up; turn off the water, remove the inlet hoses from the wall faucets, clean the screen washers, and reconnect the hoses. Also, check that the fill hoses are not kinked or clogged. Ensure the water supply is turned on fully at both hot and cold faucets. Confirm that the washer door is closed, as water filling stops if the door is open. Finally, verify that the fill hoses conn...
