INSTALLING THE WATER LINE (ICEMAKER &DISPENSER MODELS)
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Recommended copper water supplg kits (]re WX8X2,
W×8×3 or W×8×4, depending on the (]mount of tubing
gou need. Approved pl(]stic w(]ter supplg lines (]re GE
Sm(]rtConnect T_Refriger(]tor Tubing (WX08×lO002,
W×08×10006, W×08×10015 (]nd W×08×10025).
When connecting gour refriger(]tor to (] GEReverse
Osmosis W(]ter Sgstem, the onlg (]pproved inst(]ll(]tion
is with (] GE RVKit. For other reverse osmosis w(]ter
sgstems, follow the m(]nuf(]cturer's recommend(]tions.
If the w(]ter supplg to the refriger(]tor is from
(] Reverse Osmosis W(]ter Filtr(]tion Sgstem
AND the refriger(]tor (]lso h(]s (] w(]ter filter,
use the refriger(]tor's filter bgp(]ss plug. Using
the refriger(]tor's w(]ter filtr(]tion c(]rtridge in
conjunction with the ROfilter c(]n result in hollow
ice cubes (]nd slower w(]ter flow from the w(]ter
dispenser.
This w(]ter line inst(]ll(]tion is not w(]rr(]nted bg
the refriger(]tor or icem(]ker m(]nuf(]cturer. Follow
these instructions c(]refullg to minimize the risk
of e×pensive w(]ter d(]m(]ge.
W(]ter h(]mmer (w(]ter b(]nging in the pipes)in
house plumbing c(]n c(]use d(]m(]ge to refriger(]tor
p(]rts (]nd le(]d to w(]ter le(]k(]ge or flooding. C(]II (]
qu(]lified plumber to correct w(]ter h(]mmer before
inst(]lling the w(]ter supplg line to the refriger(]tor.
To prevent burns (]nd product d(]m(]ge, do not hook
up the w(]ter line to the hot w(]ter line.
If gou use gour refriger(]tor before connecting
the w(]ter line, m(]ke sure the icem(]ker power
switch is in the OFF position.
Do not inst(]ll the icem(]ker tubing in (]re(]s where
temper(]tures f(]ll below freezing.
When using (]ng electric(]l device (such (]s (] power
drill) during inst(]ll(]tion, be sure the device is double
insul(]ted or grounded in (] m(]nner to prevent the
h(]z(]rd of electric shock, or is b(]tterg powered.
All inst(]ll(]tions must be in (]ccord(]nce with Ioc(]l
plumbing code requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
J
, Copper or GE SmartConnect TMRefrigerator
Tubing kit, 1/4" outer di(]meter to connect the
refriger(]tor to the w(]ter supplg. If using copper,
be sure both ends of the tubing (]re cut squ(]re.
To determine how much tubing gou need:
me(]sure the dist(]nce from the w(]ter v(]lve
on the b(]ck of the refriger(]tor to the w(]ter supplg
pipe. Then (]dd 8' (2.4 m). Be sure there is sufficient
e×tr(] tubing ((]bout 8' [2.4 m] coiled into 3 turns
of (]bout 10" E25cm] di(]meter) to (]llow the
refriger(]tor to move out from the w(]ll (]fter
inst(]ll(]tion.
GE Sm(]rtConnect TMRefriger(]tor Tubing Kits (]re
(]v(]il(]ble in the following lengths:
2' (0.6 m) - WXOSXIO002
6' (1.8 m) - WXO8XIO006
15' (4.6 m) - WXO8XIO015
25' (7.6 m) - WXO8XlO025
Be sure th(]t the kit gou select (]llows (]t le(]st
8' (2.4 m) (]s described (]bove.
