Why is my Generac Portable Products Pressure Washer pump not building pressure?
    • J
      John WallsAug 17, 2025
If your Generac Portable Products Pressure Washer pump isn't producing pressure, has erratic pressure, chatters, loses pressure, or has low water volume, several issues could be the cause. First, ensure the nozzle is in high pressure mode by pulling it backward. Check for and clear any blockages in the water inlet, and ensure an adequate water supply. Straighten any kinks in the inlet hose and patch any leaks. Inspect and clean the inlet hose strainer. Make sure the water supply isn't over 100°F; if it is, use a cooler supply. Clear any blockages or leaks in the high pressure hose. If the gun leaks, it may need to be replaced. Clean any obstructions in the nozzle. If none of these steps resolve the issue, the pump may be faulty, and you should contact a Generac service facility.

If your Generac Portable Products Pressure Washer engine won't start or runs roughly, check the following: 1. Ensure the oil level is adequate and fill if low. 2. Clean or replace the air cleaner if it's dirty. 3. Fill the fuel tank with gasoline if it's empty. 4. Drain the tank and refill with fresh fuel if the gasoline is stale or contaminated with water. 5. Make sure the spark plug wire is connected properly. 6. Replace the spark plug if it's bad. 7. If the engine is overchoking, fully open the choke and crank the engine. For excessively rich fuel mixtures, intake valve issues, or loss of compression, contact a Briggs service facility.

If the detergent is not mixing with the spray in your Generac Portable Products Pressure Washer, it could be due to: * The detergent siphoning tube not being submerged (insert the tube into the detergent). * A clogged chemical filter (clean or replace the filter/detergent siphoning tube). * A dirty in-line filter (see 'Check In-Line Filter' on page 12). * The nozzle being in high pressure mode (push the nozzle forward for low pressure mode).
