1500 DC-1
ASSEMBLY & OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
PREPARE THE MACHINE FOR OPERATION (SETTING UP)
The 1500 DC-1 machine is packed in two separate boxes. The machine is in box 1 of 2, and the handle is
in carton 2 of 2. Unpack the machine and handle carefully. Insert the handle into the handle adaptor
socket and tighten the two square head screws to hold the handle firmly in place. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN
SCREWS. Damage could occur to the handle adaptor threads and will cause the handle to
be loose and unsafe. Connect the male motor lead from motor to the female handle lead from handle.
PAD INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL
WARNING: Make sure the power cord is disconnected from the electrical outlet before installing or removing the pads
from machine.
1.) The proper diameter pad is 20” although 21” can be used, but greater care must be used not to hit walls, baseboards or
furniture. Use the proper burnishing pad according to the level of floor finish used: hard, medium, or soft finishes.
2.) Unwrap the power cord from handle. Do not plug cord into wall outlet. Lock the handle in the upright position. Tilt the
machine back on the wheels and handle so that the machine is resting on handle and the bottom of machine is up in the air.
Remove pad centering ring and install pad over the pad holder. Install pad centering ring, to lock pad in place.
3.) Lower the machine carefully to the floor with the handle still in the vertical position. Handle should be positioned ac-
cording to height of operator. Handle may be adjusted by loosening nut, adjust screw at the base of handle where spring is
located. Once you have reached the desired height, then retighten nut.
4.) To remove pad, unwrap the power cord from handle. Unplug cord from wall outlet. Lock the handle in the upright po-
sition. Tilt the machine back on the wheels and handle so that the machine is resting on handle and the bottom of machine
is up in the air. Remove pad centering ring. Remove pad and replace pad centering ring.
PAD PRESSURE LEVEL ADJUSTMENT
Often, pad pressure needs to be adjusted due to floor leveling and type of pads used. Wheels may also become
misadjusted.
1.) Factory pad pressure is set using a 3/4”-1” thick pad. Pad load is aprox. 6 lbs with speed of 1500 RPMs.
2.) When machine stops during operation or when pad touches down on floor, the causes may be as follow:
a.) Too much pad pressure. Need to adjust rear wheels. Rise or lower depending on which side the
pressure is on. Pressure should be slightly to the front part of the machine. The amount of space between the
bottom of the left wheel (left wheel in operating position) and the bottom of the bristles of the driving pad assembly
should be 1”. The space for the right wheel should be 1-3/8” (for 1000+) or 1-1/4” (for 2000DC)
b.) Check pad being used; may need to turn it to other side or change to a new pad..
c.) Check pulley and belt. Be sure they are not too tight or too loose.
HOW TO OPERATE MACHINE
1.) Unwrap the power cord. Do not plug in yet.
2.) Install the pad.
3.) After attaching pad, plug electrical cable into wall outlet that is 20 AMPs. Lower handle by pushing foot release.
Push down on handle till pad is off the floor, press safety button in and squeeze the on/off levers. Slowly walk forward and
lower pad to floor in a step or two. By operating your machine in this manner will assure you many years of usage by not
over torqueing your motor.
4.) Plug in cord into a properly grounded outlet.
5.) Place both hands on the handle grips with your fingers around the on/off levers which extends from
one side to the other side underneath the hand grips.
WARNING!
Be prepared to control the machine as soon as the motor starts.
