Why can't I send messages from my Gigaset A580 IP Phone?

      David StewartAug 11, 2025
There are several reasons why you might be unable to send messages from your Gigaset IP Phone. It could be because you haven't requested the CLIP service; in this case, ask your service provider to enable it. Another reason could be that the SMS transmission was interrupted; try resending the SMS. Also, the network provider might not support this feature. Finally, check if the SMS centre number set as the active send service centre is correct.

Why is the SMS played back on my Gigaset IP Phone?

If your SMS is being played back, the "display call number" service may not be activated. Ask your service provider to enable this feature. Alternatively, your mobile phone operator and your fixed line network SMS service provider may not have an agreement. Obtain information from your fixed line network SMS service provider. It is also possible that your SMS provider has recorded your device as having no fixed line network SMS functionality; in this case, have the device re-registered to receive SMS messages.

If you are only receiving messages during the day on your Gigaset IP Phone, it may be because your SMS provider's database has your terminal recorded as having no fixed network SMS functionality. Obtain information from your fixed line network SMS service provider. Alternatively, have the device re-registered to receive SMS messages.
