- Compliance: The equipment complies with the essential requirements of the Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EC and Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 2004/108/EC. It meets AS/NZS 4563, AS/NZS 5601, and AS/NZS 1869 gas standards.
Usage Features:
- Lava Stone Placement: Instructions are provided for evenly spreading lava stones over the grid rack, ensuring they do not overlap or bunch, and specifying that only lava stones should be used.
- Controller Configuration: The control panel features symbols for OFF, Pilot Flame, Large Flame (Maximum Power), Small Flame (Minimum Power), and Piezo ignition.
- Operation:
- Turn the burner dial to the pilot flame position.
- Simultaneously press the piezo ignition button until the pilot flame ignites (visible through a peep-hole). Hold the dial for 15-20 seconds.
- Turn the burner dial to the large flame (maximum power) or small flame (minimum power) from the pilot flame position. The pilot flame remains on in these positions.
- To turn off the burner, return the dial to the pilot flame position, then press and turn clockwise to the OFF position.
- First Time Operation: Before initial use, the char grill rack should be cleaned, lava stones spread evenly, and the unit turned on to heat and dry the char rack.
- Line-up Connection: The manual details steps for connecting multiple units, including removing control dials, front fascia, and rear cover plates, then using bolts and nuts to connect units at the front and rear, and adjusting legs for flush alignment.
Maintenance Features:
- General Precautions: Emphasizes that installation, adjustments, alterations, service, or maintenance must only be carried out by a trained and authorized specialist to prevent property damage, injury, or death. It warns against using the unit for unintended purposes, storing flammable substances nearby, using jet sprays or hoses, removing cover panels, or using sharp objects on controls.
- Warranty: Stoddart offers a standard Australia and New Zealand Product Warranty (minimum 12 months on-site parts and labor) with terms and conditions available via a provided QR code/link. Product registration is also available online.
- Handling and Unpacking: Advises using suitable means to move the unit (two people for smaller items, forklift/pallet trolley for larger items). Instructions include checking for damage upon delivery, reporting damage within seven days, removing all protective packaging, and cleaning residue with warm soapy water.
- Disposal: At the end of the appliance's life, it should be scrapped and components recycled properly, with doors and power supply cables removed. Local environmental protection laws must be observed.
- Installation Requirements:
- Must be installed under an extraction canopy that meets AS 1668.2-2012 and local council regulations.
- Requires a smooth, level, non-combustible floor capable of supporting the unit's weight.
- Room temperature must be above +4°C with maximum 70% humidity.
- Spacing: Minimum 200mm from combustible walls on all sides; 0mm from non-combustible walls.
- Adequate ventilation for combustion products is required.
- Gas Connection: Must be installed by an authorized person/installer according to AS/NZS 5601 and local regulations. Gas type must be confirmed against the rating plate. If castors are fitted, a flexible gas hose and restraining kit (not supplied) must be used. The gas pressure regulator should be fitted horizontally, and gas pressure checked and adjusted to specified kPa values for Natural Gas and Universal LPG.
- Gas Conversion: Must only be performed by an authorized person. Involves replacing main burner nozzles and pilot nozzles, and checking fixed primary air regulation. The rating plate must be updated after conversion, and the unit leak tested.
- Cleaning Schedule (Daily):
- Remove crumbs and food items from the steel plate using a scraper.
- Empty and clean the drip tray and char grill ash tray with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
- Cleaning External Surfaces:
- Apply Stainless Cleaner with a cleaner pad to external surfaces.
- Scrub baked-on soil in the direction of the grained polish.
- Wipe clean with a damp cloth until all cleaner and soil are removed.
- Thoroughly wipe dry with a sanitised cloth, ensuring no water pools.
- Lava Stone Cleaning (as required): Lava stones can be boiled in water to remove grease. After boiling, spread them evenly on the tray and dry by heating the char grill.
- Corrosion Protection: Stainless steel should be maintained to prevent corrosion. Mild rust can be treated with commercial cleaning agents containing citric/oxalic/nitric/phosphoric acid, followed by washing with warm soapy water and drying. Abrasive pads or cleaners, chlorides, and harsh chemicals should be avoided.
- Surface Finish: To protect the polished stainless steel, dry with a clean, soft cloth. A light oil can be applied in the direction of the grained finish.
- Periodic Maintenance: All controls and mechanical parts should be checked and adjusted periodically by a qualified service person. This includes inspecting the unit, pilot burner nozzle, control dials, appliance structure, and gas burner components for damage, loose parts, soiling, and proper function.
- Troubleshooting: A table lists common problems (e.g., pilot light no visible flame, pilot burner flame goes out, burner does not light) with possible causes and corrective actions, advising to contact Stoddart service department if issues persist.
