COMMENTATORS UNIT
TYPE GSOC24 SPECIFICATION
NOTES
The GSOC24 is a new improved version of our GSOC4. Entirely compatible with the original GSOC4 it can be
used with any original base stations (GSOC3, GSOC5 or GSOC8) as well as with our new GSOC23 base station.
INPUT IMPEDANCE
MICS A, B & C 1200 ohms
TAPE >50k ohms
INPUT SENSITIVITY (With base station faders at line up i.e. holding 10dB)
MICROPHONES A, B & C
The microphone inputs are intelligent. Input sensitivity is -63dBu to -47dBu when used without phantom power and
–51 to –34 when phantom power is selected. The gain is set by a microprocessor that will prevent the input hitting
the limiter too often but will keep the gain high enough for quiet commentators.
This circuit takes into account the background noise and will not alter the gain when the commentator stops
speaking. The gain will also not be changed when measuring with tone but will remain at the gain previously set
when used with speech.
TAPE C INPUT
A pad is inserted before the mic C input so that the intelligent input stage will then line up with signal levels
between -8dBu and +8dBu
PHANTOM POWER
+12 volts phantom power from a 2100 ohm source can be enabled by 3 front panel switches. One for each mic.
HEADROOM
A limiter follows the intelligent input stage and so the maximum input levels before clipping are, at minimum gain:-
Mic Inputs better than - 15 dBu
Tape Input better than +26 dBu
HEADPHONES
This equipment is designed to work with medium to high impedance headphones.
Max output is:- +18dBu into High Z
+16dBu into 300ohms
+12dBu into 100ohms
MIX OUTPUT (Rear Panel)
Level at line up -3dBu (depends on length of cable)
Impedance <65ohms transformer balanced
GUIDE 2 INPUT BREAK (Rear Panel)
Level -6dBu nominal
Impedance >50kohms electronically balanced
AUX B INPUT (Rear Panel)
Level 0dBu nominal
Impedance >50kohms electronically balanced
CONNECTORS
Microphone/Tape inputs XLR3 fixed sockets
Headphones Jack sockets that accepts A or B gauge jack plugs
Rear panel tape output XLR3 fixed plug
Rear panel Guide 2 break jack Bantem jack
Rear panel Aux B input Bantem jack
