then the transmitter is probably working properly, but
the batteries are low. You may verify activation of the
receiver by pressing either of the SENSITIVITY or
LOCATE MASS buttons. If the status light accompany-
ing the button glows, then the receiver is probably
operating on low batteries.
b) Cold weather can effect the performance of the alkaline
batteries in either the receiver or the transmitter. At
freezing (32°F or 0°C), typical alkaline battery capacity
can be cut by 50%. Although the transmitter and
receiver will still work despite this decline in capacity,
overall performance will decrease. One way to solve
this problem is to install cold-weather batteries.
Eveready produces such a line of batteries called
“Litheon” batteries.
c) If new batteries have been installed and the BATT light
still does not come on, check to be sure that the bat-
teries have been installed with the correct polarity.
CAUTION: If all the batteries are in reverse polarity, the
internal circuitry may become damaged. Therefore, if
the light does not come on, immediately turn off the
instrument.
