furnaces. Two-stage thermostats control which ring rate is
used depending on the temperature difference between the
setpointandtheroomtemperature.Aproperlyusedtwo-stage
thermostatandfurnacewillmaintainamuchtightercontrolof
temperaturethanaconventionalsingle-stagethermostatand
furnace.Two-stagefurnaceshave“W1”and“W2”terminals.If
the thermostat has “Y1”and “Y2”cooling connections and a
single-stagecoolingsystemisused,connect“Y”onthefurnace
control to “Y1” on the thermostat. The accompanying table
describestwo-stagethermostatsthathavebeenconguredfor
usewiththesefurnaces.
