Why is my Goodman GPH1624M41 Heat Pump not cooling enough?
    • W
      Walter LoweryAug 12, 2025
If your Goodman Heat Pump isn't cooling sufficiently, first ensure the unit is properly sized for the area it's cooling by recalculating the load. Check for proper airflow, which should be approximately 400 CFM per ton. Verify the refrigerant charge by following the procedure attached to the unit service panel. Also, confirm that the voltage at the compressor terminals is within 10% of the nameplate volts when the unit is operating.

What to do if my Goodman GPH1624M41 unit will not run?
    • W
      whiteshawnAug 16, 2025
If your Goodman Heat Pump won't run, start by checking for unit voltage at the contactor. If there is no voltage, check for any loose electrical connections or power interruptions. If voltage is present, reset the thermostat. Also, check the fuses and breaker, and replace if necessary. Ensure the wiring is correct and replace the transformer if defective. Check the high and low pressure controls, the high pressure control opens at 610 psig and the low pressure control opens at 22 psig. If the compressor overload contacts are open, replace the compressor, but wait at least 2 hours for the overload to reset.

What to do if my Goodman GPH1624M41 has high head pressure and high or normal suction?
    • N
      ncrawfordAug 20, 2025
If your Goodman Heat Pump shows high head pressure with high or normal suction, the causes could be a dirty condenser coil (in cooling mode) or a dirty filter/indoor coil (in heating mode). Clean the coil or filter to resolve this. Another cause could be an overcharged system, so correct the system charge. Also, check if the condenser fan is not running in cooling mode or the indoor blower is not running in heating mode; repair or replace as necessary.

Why does my Goodman GPH1624M41 compressor short cycle?
    • C
      Curtis SmithAug 25, 2025
If the compressor in your Goodman Heat Pump is short cycling, it could be due to a defective overload protector. Replace the overload protector, ensuring the voltage is correct. Another cause could be the unit cycling on low pressure control, so check the refrigerant charge and/or airflow. Also, the high pressure switch might be cutting out, so check the airflow (both indoor and outdoor) and the expansion device.

What causes high suction pressure in my Goodman Heat Pump?
    • M
      montgomerybrianAug 27, 2025
If your Goodman Heat Pump has high suction pressure, it may be due to an excessive load, so recheck the load calculation. It could also be a defective compressor, in which case you should replace it. Another potential cause is the reversing valve not seating properly, which also requires replacement.

What causes low head and high suction in a Goodman GPH1624M41 Heat Pump?
    • D
      Daniel PayneAug 31, 2025
If your Goodman Heat Pump exhibits low head pressure and high suction, it could be due to an incorrect TXV. Replace it with the correct TXV. Defective compressor valves could also be the cause, requiring compressor replacement. Another possibility is a TXV that isn't functioning properly; check for debris or deformation and remove debris or replace the TXV. Finally, check the super heat, as an incorrect TXV setting could be the issue.

How to stop Goodman GPH1624M41 Heat Pump registers from sweating?
    • N
      Nicholas WilsonSep 4, 2025
If the registers in your Goodman Heat Pump system are sweating, it's likely due to low airflow. Increase the blower speed or reduce restrictions, such as replacing the air filters.

What causes high head and low suction in a Goodman GPH1624M41 Heat Pump?
    • D
      David SaundersSep 8, 2025
A restriction in the liquid line or a malfunctioning TXV can cause high head pressure and low suction in your Goodman Heat Pump. Remove the restriction or replace the TXV with the proper size.
