Overview

The GOTRAX Hoverfly Kart is an accessory designed to transform a self-balancing hoverboard into a seated go-kart-like vehicle. It allows users to sit and control their hoverboard with handlebars, offering a different riding experience compared to standing on the hoverboard.

Function Description:

The Hoverfly Kart attaches to most self-balancing hoverboards, converting them into a three-wheeled kart. The user sits in a seat and controls the hoverboard's movement (forward, backward, turning, braking) using two handlebars. This setup provides a more stable and potentially safer way to enjoy a hoverboard, especially for those who may find standing difficult or prefer a seated ride. The kart's design includes a front wheel, a seat, and a frame that can be adjusted to fit different user sizes and hoverboard dimensions.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Compatibility: Most self-balancing hoverboards.
  • Max Load: Dependent on the maximum load of the attached self-balancing hoverboard.
  • Tire Size: Features a 4-inch swivel caster for the front wheel.
  • Seat Material: Made from PP (Polypropylene).
  • Components: Includes a seat, handle bars, pedal mounts, adjustable straps, seat frame, locker, main frame, foot rests, and a front wheel.
  • Assembly Hardware: Comes with wrenches (standard and Allen), screws (845 and M612), and 8mm nuts.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The Hoverfly Kart requires assembly before use. This involves attaching the handlebars to the seat frame, inserting and adjusting the main frame, and securing the seat to the frame using screws.
  • Installation: To install the Hoverfly Kart onto a hoverboard, the user first places the kart's pedal mounts onto the hoverboard's foot pedals, ensuring the front wheel faces forward and the mounts are centered. Adjustable straps with Velcro are then used to secure the kart to the hoverboard. It's crucial to turn off the hoverboard's self-balancing mode before attachment by pressing the power button for 2 seconds after powering it on.
  • Riding Controls:
    • Forward Movement: Firmly grip both handlebars and slowly push them downward simultaneously.
    • Braking: Slowly pull both handlebars upwards simultaneously.
    • Reverse Movement: Slowly pull both handlebars upwards simultaneously (same as braking).
    • Turning Right: Push the right handlebar down while holding the left handlebar in a neutral position.
    • Turning Left: Push the left handlebar down while holding the right handlebar in a neutral position.
  • Adjustability: The frame is adjustable to accommodate different user sizes, allowing for a customized and comfortable riding position.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Always wear a helmet (CPSC or CE safety standards compliant), knee, and elbow pads.
    • Obey all local laws, stop signs, and pedestrian crosswalks.
    • Ride single file if with multiple karts.
    • Use a signaling device (bell, horn) to warn others.
    • Ride defensively and expect the unexpected.
    • Give pedestrians the right-of-way and alert them when passing.
    • Slow down at intersections and look both ways.
    • Use proper hand signals for turning and stopping.
    • Be aware of cars pulling out and sudden car door openings.
    • Avoid potholes, drainage gates, railroad tracks (cross at a right angle), and soft/uneven surfaces.
    • Do not hitch onto other vehicles, "stunt" ride, race in traffic, or weave in and out of traffic.
    • Avoid riding in wet weather due to reduced brake effectiveness and potential damage to electronic components.
    • Do not operate near swimming pools or other bodies of water.
    • Adult supervision is required to reduce the risk of injury.
    • Never use in roadways, near motor vehicles, on or near steep inclines or steps.
    • Always wear shoes and never allow more than one rider.
    • Avoid sharp turns to prevent drifting and overturning.

Maintenance Features:

  • Pre-ride Checklist: Before each ride, users should:
    • Ensure the Hoverkart and scooter are in proper working order.
    • Check tire pressure of the scooter.
    • Ensure the scooter's battery is fully charged.
    • Verify that all screws on the Hoverkart are locked firmly.
    • Check that the scooter's tires are not worn.
    • Ensure all connections on the scooter are maintained.
    • Inspect the entire device thoroughly for any problems and correct them before riding.
    • Check assembly pieces before every ride to avoid accidents.
  • Damaged Parts: Do not ride with damaged parts; replace them before use.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual directs users to GOTRAX.com for updated manuals and to contact customer service for problems or detailed information.
  • Warranty: Warranty information is available on GOTRAX.com.

The GOTRAX Hoverfly Kart aims to provide an enjoyable and alternative way to experience a hoverboard, emphasizing safety through proper assembly, installation, and adherence to riding guidelines.
