Operation
This unit does not have a battery - it has an internal circuit that can store a charge. The power
to charge the unit comes from an external circuit with a known voltage of 100 volts or more.
The charge time is a minimum of 5 seconds.
• To prevent a false reading when locating a hot conductor, charge the unit first by connecting
the probes to the circuit.
• To prevent tripping a GFCI, charge the unit first by connecting the probes between hot and
neutral. Then connect the probes between hot and ground.
1. See Typical Measurements for illustrations.
2. See the Test Table for test instructions.
3. Test the unit on a known functioning circuit or component. If the unit does not function as
expected, send the unit to Greenlee for repair.
4. Take the reading from the unit to be tested. The LED’s illuminate as follows:
LED Illuminates Indication Tone
LED 1 Positive (+) DC of 12 V or more None
LED 2 Negative (-) DC of 12 V or more Continuous
LED 1 and LED 2 AC of 12 V or more Warbling
Other LEDs Approximate voltage level
