Humidity
The room where the incubator is set up has an important effect on the humidity. In areas
that are humid, like basements, less water will be needed to keep proper humidity in
the machine.
After the hygrometer has been checked it can be hung up directly behind the pane of
glass or put on the floor so it is readable. The water tanks in incubators without auto-
matic humidity have to be filled up often. During incubation the humidity level in the
incubator should be 50-60 % depending on the type of egg. During the hatching phase
about 80-90 % humidity is required. Fill the bottom of the machine with water or spray
the eggs with water.
This is not necessary for incubators with automatic humidity. But it is always advanta-
geous to check the eggs during incubation.
Automatic humidity
Fill the water tank with mineral free water or normal tap water, distilled water is not nec-
essary. The tank can take 4.5 liters, it is full when the water has filled the tubes.
Due to the water surface a humidity of about 50 % emerges. In case of the humidity
being higher you should then switch on the humidity adjustment which thermally reg-
ulates the water chamber heating. The heating is indicated by a control right of the
humidity adjustment. It is necessary to turn up the humidity adjustment slowly so the
electronic can follow up. As the water warms up when the adjustment is turned up, the
temperature rises a few
1
/10 °C. Therefore the temperature must be turned down a bit
with the fine temperature adjustment.
If the incubator should be not running for more than two weeks, the water in the tank
should be renewed. The tap to let out the water is situated underneath the filler pipes.
To pour out the water totally, tilt the incubator forward until no more water comes out
of the tank.
Tank flap
The flap is only to be used when you wish to reduce humidity while the tank is full.
Behind the knob is a flap which opens or closes the installed filler pipes. Position 3
means “open”. This adjustment is necessary if you use the automatic humidity, so
humid air can be blown from the tank into the breeding room. Position 6 means the flap
closes the tank, no unnecessary humidity can get into the breeding room – therefore the
air humidity switch has to be switched off. This rotary control saves a pouring out of the
water from the tank when the air humidity in the breeding room has gone up.
