Overview

This document describes the Hacker Brushless DC Motor Q-150, specifically the QSL-T/QST-150-25/45 V3 Standard models. It serves as an operating manual providing essential information for commissioning, operation, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The Hacker Brushless DC Motor Q-150 is a universal brushless DC outrunner motor designed for installation in end-devices and machines. It acts as an actuator, converting electrical energy into mechanical motion. The motor is intended to be operated only when installed within a system, and its commissioning should only occur after all necessary protection requirements of applicable product standards and guidelines have been fulfilled. The motor's open design necessitates careful handling to prevent injuries from rotating or moving parts. A suitable speed controller is required for operation, and it must be connected to the motor's temperature sensor to prevent overheating by limiting power consumption before temperature limits are exceeded. The motor should never be connected directly to a power supply (230V or 400V AC mains).

Important Technical Specifications:

The Q-150 series motors have a diameter of approximately 155mm. The Q-150-25 model has a length (L) of approximately 85mm (actual 78.50mm), while the Q-150-45 model has a length (L) of approximately 105mm (actual 98.50mm).

Interfaces:

  • Drive-output: 6xM6 on a pitch circle Ø40mm.
  • Motor mounting: 4xM6 on a pitch circle Ø75mm.
  • Phase connection: 3x terminal M4. Prepared connection cables can be screwed to these terminals. Spring washers are supplied to prevent unintentional loosening of the screws. The sequence for connection is terminal/cable lug/washer/spring washer/screw.
  • Sensor connection: MOLEX NANO-FIT 105310-1210. An adapter cable may be required for connection to an HST-Series converter.

Sensor Connector Assignment:

Pin Assignment Pin Assignment
1 GND 6 +5V
2 Hall_2 7 Hall_1
3 Hall_3 8 Temp_Sensor 2
4 N.C. 9 GND_Temp 2
5 Temp_Sensor 10 GND_Temp

Sensor Mounting:

The sensor plug is located inside the motor on the Q150 V3. To mount the plug, the two aluminum clamping plates and the cable grommet must first be dismantled. The sensor cable is then inserted through the cable grommet. If a plug is already crimped on, the cable grommet can be cut open with a sharp knife and placed around the sensor cable. The sensor cable is then plugged into the sensor plug inside the motor and secured with the two aluminum plates.

Performance Limits (Top performance 30s):

Motorwindings (Turns) 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12
Top performance (kW) 15 13 11 10 8 7.5 6.5 6 5.5

Load, Temperature, and Rotational Speed Limits:

Type Unit Value
Axial load max. (Fa) kN 0.7
Radial load max. (Fr) kN 1.5
Temperature max. °C 120
Rotational speed max. U/min 5000

Sensors:

  • Temperature sensors: Designation: PTC-1000 / Manufacturer: Alpha-Therm GmbH.
  • Hall sensors: Designation: A1214LUA-T / Manufacturer: Allegro MicroSystems, LLC.

Environmental Limits:

  • Temperature range (°C): -20 to +40°C.
  • Relative humidity: < 90% (not condensing).
  • The motor must be installed protected against water, salt exposure, dust, and dirt.
  • The motor must be shielded against aggressive environments.

Voltage Limits (Input Voltage Motor):

  • <75V DC (From 60V DC upwards, live components must be protected against contact).
  • <50V AC (From 25V AC upwards, live components must be protected against contact). The maximum permissible voltage can also be limited by the resulting rotational speed.

Lifespan:

The lifespan of the motor is primarily limited by the ball-bearing. If load, temperature, and speed limits are respected, the service life is a minimum of 2500 operating hours. Significantly undercutting these values can increase the service life. For a binding statement on the motor's service life in a specific application, contact Hacker Motor GmbH's Industrial Department with information on installation situation, load (radial, axial), rotational speed, and load profile.

Usage Features:

The motor is designed for outdoor use (with appropriate framework conditions), in sheltered and indoor rooms, and on/under/in water (with appropriate framework conditions). It is NOT intended for potentially explosive areas, underground use, as a safety-relevant engine in man-carrying aviation, in the food industry, or in medical sectors.

Authorised Persons:

  • Transport personnel: Qualified in transport and logistics.
  • Assembly personnel: Qualified in mechanical engineering and machine assembly.

Safety Instructions:

  • Electric Shock: Never connect the motor directly to the AC mains. Operate only with a suitable speed controller.
  • Injuries (Rotating/Moving Parts): The motor's open design poses a high risk of injury. Operate only when installed.
  • Injuries/Damage (Insulation Faults): Inspect electrical supply lines and motor windings for damage. Stop operation immediately and send the motor to the manufacturer if damage is visible.
  • Burns (Hot Surfaces): The motor can heat up significantly even within technical specifications.
  • Injuries (Unsuitable Attachments): Use only balanced attachments without sharp edges or dangerous geometries. Additional parts must only be attached via the drive shaft.
  • Injuries (Parts Thrown Out): Before commissioning, check the motor for foreign objects.
  • Injuries (Breakage): Do not exceed load limits defined in the "Technical specifications" chapter under any circumstances.
  • Interruption of Power Supply: The motor should only be used in applications where no dangerous situation can arise if the power supply is interrupted.
  • Hearing Damage: Operation under load or in certain speed ranges can cause hearing-damaging noise. The operator must ensure appropriate protective equipment.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: The motor can be cleaned with compressed air or a dry cloth. Do not clean with water or wet objects, as this can permanently damage the motor.
