Overview

This document provides installation, use, and maintenance instructions for Häfele Wine Fridge model 539.15.020 and Häfele Beverage Fridge model 539.15.021.

Function Description

These appliances are designed for the specific purpose of storing wine or beverages. They are not designed for food storage. The units can be used as free-standing appliances or built-in (fully recessed). The Wine Fridge model 539.15.020 is optimized for wine storage, offering dual temperature zones for different types of wine. The Beverage Fridge model 539.15.021 is designed for general beverage storage. Both models feature front ventilation, drawing air from the rear of the cabinet and expelling it through a front ventilation grill.

Usage Features

  • Installation:
    • Remove all packing materials, ensuring none are left within reach of children.
    • Allow the appliance to stand upright for approximately 12 hours before connecting to power to prevent cooling system malfunctions.
    • Clean interior surfaces with a soft cloth and lukewarm water.
    • Install the handle on the left or right side of the door using the supplied hinge reverse kit (refer to page 10 for instructions).
    • Place the unit on a level floor strong enough to support its fully loaded weight.
    • Level the appliance by adjusting the leveling legs at the bottom, adjusting rear feet first, then front feet.
    • Locate away from direct sunlight and heat sources (stoves, radiators, electric radiators) to prevent increased electrical consumption and acrylic door coating damage.
    • Avoid humid or moist areas.
    • Not designed to be housed behind a door due to front ventilation requirements.
    • Plug into an exclusive, properly installed-grounded wall outlet with a surge protector; extension leads are not recommended.
    • Avoid placing next to a microwave oven as it may affect operation.
  • Control Panel (Beverage Fridge):
    • POWER Button: Press to turn on; press and hold for 2-3 seconds to turn off.
    • UP/DOWN Buttons: Adjust temperature. Pushing once increases/decreases temperature by 1°C.
    • LIGHT Switch: Turns interior light ON or OFF. Can be set to stay ON or OFF when the door is closed, or to come on only when the door is opened (activated by a tab at the bottom of the door).
    • DISPLAY: Shows set temperature.
  • Control Panel (Wine Fridge):
    • POWER Button: Press to turn on; press and hold for 2-3 seconds to turn off.
    • LIGHT Switch: Turns interior light ON or OFF. Can be set to stay ON or OFF when the door is closed, or to come on only when the door is opened.
    • RUN Light: Illuminates when cooling.
    • Set Upper Button: Adjusts temperature for the upper section (5°C to 12°C). LED flashes in setup mode. Each touch decreases temperature by 1°C.
    • Set Lower Button: Adjusts temperature for the lower section (12°C to 18°C). LED flashes in setup mode. Each touch decreases temperature by 1°C.
  • Door Reversing: The door can be reversed to open from either the left or right side. Instructions are provided on page 11, involving removing screws, pulling the door outward, removing hinge brackets, mounting new hinges, rotating the door 180 degrees, and re-attaching.
  • Door Handle Mounting: Locate inner door seal, pull out gently to expose screw holes, fix with a screwdriver, then press the seal back into position.
  • Shelves (Beverage Fridge): Pull shelves approximately 1/2 out for access. Plastic posts prevent bottles from falling. To remove, ensure the door is fully open, remove all items, move the shelf to align the notch with the plastic post, and lift.
  • Shelves (Wine Fridge): Ensure the door is fully open before pulling shelves out. To remove, move the shelf towards the gap on both sides, align with shelf support A, lift upwards, and pull out.
  • Humidity Maintenance System (Wine Fridge): Equipped with a system to maintain correct humidity. If humidity is too low, fill the supplied small clear plastic container (located on the top shelf) ¼ full with water and refill regularly.
  • Safety Features:
    • Door alarm activates if left open for more than 5 minutes.
    • If the door is continually left open, the compressor will stop cooling to prevent damage.
    • After unplugging, power loss, or turning off, wait 3 to 5 minutes before restarting.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning:
    • Turn off power and unplug the appliance.
    • Remove all items and shelves.
    • Wipe inside surfaces and shelves with a soft cloth using warm water and mild detergent solution.
    • Wring excess water from the sponge/cloth when cleaning controls or electrical parts.
    • Wipe outside cabinet with a soft cloth using warm water and mild detergent.
    • Dry all surfaces with a clean soft cloth.
  • Power Failure: Most power failures are short and won't affect temperature if the door is kept closed. For prolonged outages, take steps to protect contents. Note: These fridges do not have battery backup.
  • Moving the Appliance:
    • Remove all items.
    • Remove or fix loose items (like shelves) with foam.
    • Turn adjustable legs up to the base to prevent damage.
    • Tape the door shut.
    • Ensure the appliance stays secure in an upright position during transportation.
    • Protect the exterior with a blanket or similar items.
