Overview

This document serves as both an operation and installation manual for Haier Duct Type Air Conditioners, specifically covering models AD35S2SM3FA, AD35S2SM4FA, AD50S2SM3FA, AD50S2SM4FA, AD71S2SM3FA, and AD71S2SM4FA. It provides comprehensive guidelines for safe and efficient use, installation, and maintenance of these units.

Function Description

The Haier Duct Type Air Conditioner is designed to provide cooling and heating for various indoor environments, including offices, restaurants, and residences. It operates by circulating refrigerant to transfer heat between the indoor and outdoor units. The system utilizes a heat pump mechanism for warming, concentrating heat from outdoor air to warm the indoor space. This type of air conditioner is a partial unit, meaning it must be connected to other units that comply with corresponding international standards.

A key feature of the system is its ability to adapt to different ambient temperatures, with specified ranges for both indoor and outdoor cooling and heating operations. The unit can be controlled via a wired controller (YR-E17) or an infrared remote controller (RE-02 or YR-HBS01), allowing for precise adjustment of settings, including static pressure grades to optimize airflow.

For heating mode, the "HOT KEEP" function prevents the discharge of cool air at startup by temporarily stopping the indoor fan until the room temperature reaches a suitable level. During heating, if frost accumulates on the outdoor unit's heat exchanger, the system automatically switches to a defrosting mode for 5 to 12 minutes to maintain warming efficiency. The fan speed also adjusts automatically based on room temperature to prevent low-temperature conditions at the indoor heat exchanger.

Usage Features

The air conditioner is designed for ease of use, with clear instructions provided for operation and control. Users can adjust the thermostat to their desired temperature and manage fan speed. The system is equipped with safety features to prevent malfunction and ensure user safety, such as automatic shutdown in case of irregularities or abnormal sounds.

The wired controller (YR-E17) offers detailed control over static pressure grades, allowing users or installers to fine-tune airflow for optimal comfort. This adjustment is performed by pressing the Fan+ and Set keys simultaneously for 5 seconds, then using the up/down keys to select the desired grade and confirming with the Set key. For infrared remote controllers (RE-02), static pressure can be set by entering FAN mode, setting fan speed to high, and then pressing the HEALTH button a specific number of times (4+N, where N is 1 to 10) within 12 seconds while aiming at the receiver. For the YR-HBS01 remote, the FRESH button is used after turning the controller off and opening the button cover.

The unit is designed to be installed in well-ventilated areas, away from flammable gases, and on foundations capable of supporting its weight to prevent vibration and noise. It is crucial to ensure that the air inlet and outlet are not obstructed to maintain efficient operation. The system is not intended to be operated by an external timer or separate remote-control system.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and efficient operation of the air conditioner. The manual outlines several key maintenance tasks:

Air Filter Cleaning: The air filter should be cleaned regularly by lightly tapping it or using a cleaner. For heavily soiled filters, a neutral detergent in lukewarm water (approx. 30°C) can be used, followed by thorough rinsing with plain water. It is important to dry the filter completely before reinstallation and never to operate the unit without the air filter.

Unit Cleaning: The unit's exterior should be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a neutral detergent in lukewarm water can be used, followed by wiping with a clean, damp cloth to remove any detergent residue.

Post-Season Care: After the cooling or heating season, it is recommended to operate the unit in FAN mode for about half a day on a fair day to dry the inside of the unit. Following this, the operation should be stopped, and the power supply switch turned off. The air filter should be cleaned and reinstalled.

Pre-Season Care: Before starting the unit for a new season, users should check for any obstacles blocking the air inlet and outlet of both indoor and outdoor units. The air filter should be clean. It is also advised to cut in the power supply switch 12 hours before starting the unit.

Professional Servicing: The manual emphasizes that servicing should only be performed as recommended by the instructions. For more complex issues, such as those indicated by LED flash codes (troubleshooting section), or if the unit exhibits abnormal operation, frequent breaker trips, water leaks, or unusual sounds, users are advised to stop the unit and contact their sales dealer for professional assistance. Special inspection/maintenance services are recommended every three years to address potential capacity decrease due to internal contamination.

Refrigerant Handling: The appliance is filled with R32 refrigerant, and its handling, installation, cleaning, servicing, and disposal must be carried out by professional personnel trained and certified in accordance with national competency standards. The manual provides detailed safety precautions for working with refrigerants, including ensuring proper ventilation, using appropriate recovery equipment, and preventing contamination.

Disposal: When disposing of an old air conditioner, it must be rendered inoperative and safe. Refrigerants and other valuable materials should be recycled by qualified installers at specialized treatment facilities, adhering to local and national legislation. The packaging materials are also recyclable.

The manual also includes important warnings regarding electrical work, grounding, and the use of authorized parts to prevent hazards such as electric shock, fire, and refrigerant leakage.
