Overview

This document provides instructions for use of the Haier Microwave Oven models EB-3190EG, EB-3190EGS, and EB-3690EG. It covers installation, operation, and maintenance, emphasizing safety precautions throughout.

Function Description

The Haier Microwave Oven is designed for warming up or heating food and drinks. It offers various cooking functions including microwave, grill, and combination modes, along with automatic express cooking for specific food types and a defrost function.

Microwave Function: This is the primary cooking method, utilizing microwave energy to heat food. The oven provides ten preset power levels (10% to 100%) to accommodate different cooking needs, from gentle warming to rapid heating. Lower power levels are recommended for delicate foods like cheeses, milk, and slow cooking of meats.

Grill/Combi Function: For browning and crisping, the grill function is available. It is particularly suitable for small quantities and thin pieces of food. For larger quantities and thicker items, the combination microwave and grill mode is recommended, offering three power levels (C-1, C-2, C-3) to achieve desired results.

Automatic Express Cooking: The oven features nine one-touch selections for common food items such, as beverages, poultry, meat, popcorn, vegetables, pizza, fish/seafood, frozen dinner, and baked potato. Users can select the food type and, in some cases, the weight, and the oven automatically sets the appropriate cooking time and power level.

Defrost Function (DEFROST 3 MENU): This function allows for defrosting food based on weight. The user inputs the weight (in multiples of 100g, from 0.1kg to 3kg), and the oven calculates the defrosting time. Specific settings are available for meat, poultry, and fish.

Keep Warm Function: This feature allows the oven to maintain food at a warm temperature after cooking.

PLUS 30S: A quick start function that initiates 30 seconds of cooking at High Power. This can be used to quickly heat items or to add extra cooking time during an ongoing process, up to a maximum of 5 minutes.

Child Safety Lock: This function locks the control panel to prevent unintentional operation, particularly by children. It is activated and deactivated by pressing and holding the PAUSE/STOP pad.

Kitchen Timer (TIME): Beyond cooking functions, the oven includes a kitchen timer that can be set for up to 99 minutes and 99 seconds. This acts as a reminder and does not affect oven cooking time.

Important Technical Specifications

The specific technical specifications are located on the rating plate at the rear of the oven cabinet. Users are advised to check this plate to ensure that the voltage (V) and fuse amperage (A) correspond with their home's electrical power supply before plugging in the appliance.

Power Levels:

  • Level 1: 100%
  • Level 2: 90%
  • Level 3: 80%
  • Level 4: 70%
  • Level 5: 60%
  • Level 6: 50%
  • Level 7: 40%
  • Level 8: 30%
  • Level 9: 20%
  • Level 10: 10%

Clock Display: The oven features a 12-hour clock display.

Turntable: The oven is equipped with a turntable, turntable undercarriage, and turntable drive to ensure even heating.

Safety Features:

  • Primary and Secondary Interlock Switches: These mechanisms ensure the oven does not operate when the door is open.
  • Fuse: Protects the appliance from electrical overloads.
  • Thermostat: Regulates temperature.
  • Door Seal: Crucial for preventing microwave radiation leakage. Any damage to the door, door frame, or door seal necessitates professional repair before further use.

Usage Features

Installation:

  • The oven must be placed on an even, non-skid, heat-resistant surface, stable enough to support the appliance and its contents.
  • Minimum clearances must be maintained for safety and heat radiation: at least 5 cm on sides, 30 cm at the rear, and 30 cm above the oven. A minimum of 15 cm space is required between the worktop edge and the front of the oven door to prevent tilting.
  • The appliance should not be installed in humid or high-temperature environments, direct sunlight, or near heat sources like radiators or cookers.
  • The power plug must be easily accessible and firmly inserted into a grounded socket that complies with regulations.
  • Before first use, all plastic films and stickers, especially from the cabinet, door, and turntable axle, must be carefully removed to prevent fire hazards. The oven interior should be cleaned with a damp cloth.

Suitable Cooking Ware:

  • Best suited: Fire-resistant glass or ceramics, heat-resistant and microwave-suited plastic, heat-resistant porcelain/stoneware.
  • Brief operation (under constant supervision): Materials explicitly stated by the manufacturer as suitable for microwaves.
  • Unsuitable: Metal containers, cutlery, skewers, containers with metal trimming (e.g., gold rim), bags sealed with metal parts (clips), cartons coated with plastic film or foil, colored or recycled paper. Metal objects can cause sparking and damage the appliance. Coated or recycled paper may contain substances that lead to overheating and fire.
  • If using grill/fan functions, dishes must be high heat resistant.

Operation Guidelines:

  • Never operate the oven empty; always leave a glass of water inside when not in use to prevent damage.
  • Do not heat liquids or food in sealed dishes, as overpressure can cause bursting. Puncture foods with skin (e.g., potatoes) and remove foil from vacuum-packed items before cooking. Eggs in shells should not be cooked.
  • If aluminum foil is used, ensure it adheres tightly to cookware/food and maintains a 2.5 cm gap from compartment walls to prevent sparking.
  • Always keep the oven door closed during operation.
  • If smoke or fire develops, keep the door closed, switch off the appliance immediately, unplug it, and only open the oven to remove burnt food once smoke is no longer detected. Never use water to extinguish fires inside the oven.

Setting the Clock:

  • Upon first plugging in, the display shows "12:00".
  • Press CLOCK, input the desired time (e.g., "11:00"), then press CLOCK again to confirm.

General Cooking Process:

  1. Place food in a suitable container on the turntable.
  2. Select the desired function (e.g., POWER LEVEL, GRILL/COMBI, Automatic Express Cooking, DEFROST 3 MENU).
  3. Input cooking time or weight as required.
  4. Press START.
  5. The oven will beep three times when cooking is finished, and the display will show "End".

PAUSE/STOP Function:

  • Press once to temporarily pause a program or cancel an error.
  • Press twice to cancel a program completely and return to the electrified state.

Maintenance Features

Cleaning and Care:

  • Safety First: Always unplug the microwave oven or activate the fuse safety switch before cleaning. If the plug is inaccessible, keep the oven door open.
  • Cabinet Cleaning: Use only clear water with a little washing-up liquid. Never allow water or cleaning fluid to enter the oven interior, especially near air vents or the rear wall, to prevent electric shock and damage. Wipe dry with a soft cloth. Remove food particles and dirt between the door and cabinet to ensure proper closure.
  • Oven Interior Cleaning: Clean thoroughly with clear water and a little washing-up liquid. Do not use sharp cleansers or acid. Wipe dry with a soft cloth. Regular cleaning prevents fat and food particles from overheating, causing fire hazards, and maintains oven performance.
  • Turntable Cleaning: Clean the turntable and its undercarriage regularly after each use to prevent smoke from food particles. The turntable may be hot.

General Maintenance:

  • The door seal, door frame, and door hinges must be kept clean and free from damage. Any damage to these components can lead to hazardous microwave radiation leakage and requires professional repair before further use.
  • The interior lamp should only be replaced by specially trained customer service personnel.
  • Steam escaping from the air vent during operation is normal and not a malfunction.

Customer Support:

  • In case of malfunction, first check the "What is when..." section in the manual.
  • If the issue persists, contact customer support. Have the appliance type/model, date of purchase, dealer information, and a description of the malfunction ready.
  • Customer service jobs resulting from improper operation are liable for payment even during the guarantee period.
  • If the power cord is damaged, only authorized sellers or professional technicians should perform maintenance to avoid electric shock.
