Do you have a question about the Hamron 010933 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Hamron 010933 is a battery/charge tester designed for 12V lead-acid batteries, providing a comprehensive analysis of battery condition and charging system performance. It is suitable for both professional and home use, offering a user-friendly interface with clear readouts.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Hamron 010933 is to test the cold cranking amps (CCA) of a 12V lead-acid battery and assess its overall health. It also measures the battery's voltage and can indicate whether the battery needs to be recharged or replaced. The device performs a cold start test (CCA test) to determine the battery's ability to provide the necessary current for engine starting in cold conditions. It can also perform a charge and retest function, guiding the user through the process of fully charging the battery and re-evaluating its condition. The tester provides clear results such as "GOOD BATTERY," "GOOD & RECHARGE," "CHARGE & RETEST," "REPLACE BATTERY," and "BAD CELL & REPLACE," making it easy for the user to understand the battery's status and take appropriate action.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Measuring range cold start current: 40–1200 A
  • Measuring range voltage: 7–15 V
  • Measuring precision: ± 10% for cold start current (%), ± 0.1 V for voltage (V)
  • Battery type compatibility: VRLA/GEL, AGM SPIRAL, AGM FLAT, REGULAR, REGULAR LIQUID
  • Display: LCD
  • Ambient temperature for operation: 0–50°C
  • Test wire length: 80 cm
  • Input voltage: The device is designed for 12V DC batteries. Connecting to voltages higher than 18V DC can damage the tester.

Usage Features:

The Hamron 010933 is designed for straightforward operation.

  1. Preparation: Before testing, ensure the battery terminals and lugs are clean and free of rust or impurities. Use a brass brush if necessary. Verify that the battery casing is not cracked or damaged. For accurate results, fully charge the battery and let it rest for at least 1 hour (preferably up to 5 hours) to stabilize.
  2. Connection: Connect the red clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal and the black clamp to the negative (-) battery terminal. The tester will display the battery voltage.
  3. Battery Type Selection: Press the [Enter] button to proceed to battery type selection. Use the [+] and [-] buttons to select the correct battery type (VRLA/GEL, AGM SPIRAL, AGM FLAT, REGULAR, or REGULAR LIQUID) and press [Enter] to confirm.
  4. CCA Value Setting: Use the [+] and [-] buttons to set the nominal cold start current (CCA) value, which is usually indicated on the battery. Adjustments are made in 10 A increments. Press [Enter] to confirm.
  5. Test Execution: Press [Enter] to start the test. The results will be displayed within a few seconds.
  6. Retesting: Press [Enter] again to start a new test and repeat the process.
  7. Error Messages:
    • If the battery clamps are incorrectly connected, the tester will display "RED CLIP UNCONNECTED BLACK CLIP UNCONNECTED."
    • If the battery voltage exceeds 15V, the tester will show a warning: "CHECK CONNECTION/VOLTAGE HIGH."
    • Once the battery type and cold start current are selected and confirmed, these settings cannot be changed without disconnecting the tester clamps and restarting the selection process.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Care: Keep the device clean and dry. Do not expose it to rain or moisture.
  • Storage: Store the tester in a safe place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight, to prolong its lifespan.
  • Safety: Always wear eye protection and protective clothing when working with lead-acid batteries. Ensure good ventilation as batteries emit explosive gases. Avoid touching your eyes and skin with battery acid. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical attention. Remove all metal objects from your body when working with batteries to prevent short circuits and burns.
  • Disposal: Do not dispose of the product with household waste. It should be recycled at a designated collection point for electrical and electronic components in accordance with local regulations.
