Why is the beater not turning on my H&S 2117 Spreader?

  If the beater on your H&S Spreader isn't turning, several factors could be at play. Ensure the tractor PTO is engaged and the beater itself is engaged. Check the main drive shear bolt; if it's sheared, replace it. Inspect the front drive chain for any issues—if it's off, broken, or missing, repair or replace it. Also, verify the control cable adjustment. Finally, examine the splined beater insert for wear or sheared splines; replacement of both the insert and the gearbox output shaft may be necessary.

  If the apron on your H&S Spreader isn't turning, there are several possible causes. First, make sure the tractor PTO is engaged. If it is, check the main drive shear bolt; if sheared, it will need to be replaced. Also, inspect the apron drive shear bolts and replace them if they are sheared. Examine the front drive chain and the apron worm drive chain, replacing or repairing them if they are off, broken, or missing.
