Why is the beater not turning on my H&S 175 Spreader?

  If the beater on your H&S Spreader isn't turning, several factors could be at play. Ensure the tractor PTO is engaged and the beater itself is engaged. Check the main drive shear bolt; if it's sheared, replace it. Inspect the front drive chain for any issues—if it's off, broken, or missing, repair or replace it. Also, verify the control cable adjustment. Finally, examine the splined beater insert for wear or sheared splines; replacement of both the insert and the gearbox output shaft may be necessary.
