Upon startup, the air purifier defaults to auto mode, and holding the Auto icon for 3 seconds will switch the display to PM2.5 readings.

The filter cartridge door can be opened after shutting down the device to access the filter. Users can remove the old filter by pulling its handle, take out the new filter pack, and then insert the new filter before closing the cartridge door. After replacing the filter and starting up the device, the [ON/OFF] + [UV] buttons should be held simultaneously to reset the filter indicator.
For general filter maintenance, it is recommended to take out the filter every 1 to 2 months, depending on air quality. The dust and pollutants absorbed by the filter can be cleaned with a blower (using cold air) or a vacuum cleaner. Placing the filter under the sun for about 2 hours after cleaning is advised to maintain its best purifying effect. For cleaning the device itself, a soft cloth soaked in warm water can be used to wipe away stubborn dirt or dust. It is crucial to avoid using volatile liquids, detergents, benzene, paint thinner, polishing powder, or other harsh substances, as these may damage the device.
Safety precautions are also highlighted for maintenance and general use. Before taking out the filter, the power supply must be unplugged. Fingers should be kept away from the pre-filter opening when pushing down the outer tube and from the center opening of the lid when pressing down to avoid injury. The device should not be placed directly below a shelf or other objects that might obstruct airflow, and vents should never be covered while the device is running. Objects should not be placed on top of the device, and it should not be dropped. Inserting foreign objects or liquids into the device is strictly prohibited; if this occurs, the device must be immediately unplugged. The Happi KJ500 should not be used with any solid-state speed control device to prevent fire or electric shock risks. When moving the device, it must be stopped, and the power plug pulled out. The device will not start if the filter cover is not installed correctly. The AC power cord should not be over-pinched, bent, or twisted, as this could expose or break the core. Immediate cessation of use is required if abnormal sound, odor, high temperature, or irregular fan rotation is observed. Finally, users should not sit, lean, or rest on the device.
