Summary

Disassemble Winch Before Installation

Remove Disconnect Rot and Handle Socket

Loosen disconnect rod using flethead screw driver. Remove Disconnect Rod and handle cocket.

Remove Stripper Arm and Name Ring

Loosen three allen screws. Remove stripper arm, name ring, and black cover ring.

Remove Drum Assembly

Loosen four allen screws in stripper arm support. Lift off drum assembly, bearings may remain inside.

Remove Housing

Loosen six allen screws holding housing to aluminum base. Lift off housing.

Remove Mounting Plate from Motor/Gearbox Assembly

Loosen four allen screws and lift off the mounting plate.

Drive Position

Place winch base on mounting plate, align holes, and mark drive position.

Mount the Winch

Determine Winch Location

Ensure clearance for Motor and Reduction Gearbox. Drill a 127 mm hole through the deck.

Position Drive Gear/Secure Mounting Base

Ensure base sits flat, aligns drive gear to sheet load. Mark, drill, and seal mounting holes.

Attach Motor/Gearbox Assembly to Mounting Base

Position gearbox underneath winch while attaching it to the mounting base.

Attach Winch

Tighten six bolts securing winch to mounting base. Use blue Loctite and lubricate gears with grease.

Assemble Winch

Reassemble winch by following steps 1-9 in reverse order.

Test Winch Operation

Test manual operation with a lock-in handle. Ensure disconnect rod disengages gearbox.

Servicing Winch

General Servicing

Clean parts with solvent, except 37383 and 38598. Lubricate moving parts lightly with grease.

Pawl Servicing

Catch spring with knife, lift pawl. Clean, check for wear. Reinsert spring and pawl, lubricate with oil.

Jaw Adjustment

Self-tailing jaws adjust automatically to line sizes from 5/16" (8 mm) to 1/2" (12 mm).

Stripper Arm Positioning

Loosen top screw, remove handle socket. Lift stripper arm and position as desired.

Opening Winch for Service

Remove top screw. Lift off drum and stripper arm.

Provides recommended wire sizes in mm² for various amperage and distance combinations.
