OPERATION
USING THE EDGER ATTACHMENT

WARNING:
Enginehousingongaspowerheadsmaybecomehot
duringedgeroperation.Donotrestorplaceyourarm,
hand,oranybodypartagainsttheenginehousingduring
edgeroperation.Onlyholdtheedgerasshowninfigure
3withallbodypartsclearofenginehousing.Extended
contactwiththeenginehousingcanresultinburnsor
otherinjuries.
WARNING:
Alwayspositiontheunitontheoperator’srightside.The
use of the unit on the operator’s left side will expose
theoperatortohotsurfacesandcanresultinpossible
burninjury.
WARNING:
Toavoidburnsfromhotsurfaces,neveroperateunitwith
thebottomoftheengineabovewaistlevel.
Whenusingtheedgerattachment,holdtheunitwithyour
righthandontherearhandleandyourlefthandonthefront
handle.Keepafirmgripwithbothhandswhileinoperation.
Theedgershouldbeheldatacomfortablepositionwiththe
rearhandleabouthipheight.
NOTE:Whenusedwithagaspowerhead,alwaysoperate
atfullthrottle.Prolongedcuttingatpartialthrottlewillresult
inoildrippingfromthemuffler.
ADJUSTING DEPTH OF CUT
See Figures 4 - 5.
Stoptheengineormotorandremovethesparkplugwire,
disconnectfromthepowersupply,orremovethebattery
pack.
Loosentheadjustingknobandmovethewheelarmup
toincreasethedepthordowntodecreasethedepth.
Afteradjustmentiscomplete,tightentheadjustingknob
securely.
Replacethesparkplugwire,connecttothepowersupply,
orreinstallthebatterypackandstarttheunit.
NOTE: Adjust the blade depth from1/2 in. to 1 in. deep
initially.Makeashallowcuttotestthecuttingdepth.Ifthe
cuttingdepthneedsadjusting,thisshouldbedoneprogres-
sivelyuntilthedesireddepthisreached.
OPERATING TIPS
Theedgerwilledgealongsidewalks,driveways,flower-
beds,curbs,andsimilarareas.
Usethearrowguideonthebladeguardtoaligntheblade
withtheedgingsurface.
Cutatasteadypace.Ifthebladebeginstobogdown,
youareedgingtoofast;slowyourpace.Donotforcethe
bladeintotheground.
Light contact of the blade against the sidewalk edge,
curb,etc.,isacceptableandwillnotdamagetheedger.
Bestappearanceis obtained when grass is dry. Avoid
edginginwetsoilorwetgrassareasorthebladeguard
might clog and result in an uneven edge. If the blade
guardbecomes clogged, stop the engine, remove the
sparkplug wire,disconnectfromthe powersupply,or
removethebatterypack,thenremovedebrisfromthe
bladeguard.
