1.1 Designated use
The temperature control unit is used to heat or cool a connected consumer
(e.g. mould) to a specified temperature by means of a heat transfer medium
(water) and to maintain this temperature. The unit is designed and constructed
exclusively for the specified values in accordance with its type plate.
Claims of any kind due to improper use are excluded.
1.2 General safety instructions
Observe local, legal and company safety regulations and requirements.
Always wear the legally and operationally prescribed protective equip-
ment for the respective work.
Operating materials can reach high temperatures and high pressures
during operation and cause burns on contact.
Do not touch hot surfaces without protective gloves.
Regularly check the entire system for leaks or damage. Check the hose
lines and screw connections for tightness. Remedy any defects immedi-
ately.
Always keep these instructions and all information on the unit clearly leg-
ible. Replace damaged or illegible information immediately.
Never override safety devices.
In the event of uncontrolled faults, set the main switch to the O position
to trigger an emergency stop.
Disconnect the unit from the power supply when opening it. Secure the
disconnection against switching on. Owing to charged capacitors, wait
5 minutes after switching off the power supply to work on the frequency
converter.
Carry out the requested maintenance work. Maintenance work may only
be carried out by qualified personnel.
Cool down, depressurise and switch off the unit before carrying out main-
tenance, repair or cleaning work. Check that it is pressure-free.
Maintenance work on the magnetic coupling of the pump is prohibited for
people wearing a pacemaker.
Only use original spare parts from the manufacturer.
2 Transport and packaging
Check the delivery immediately on receipt for completeness and for any trans-
port damage.
Transporting, crane and lifting equipment must be suitable and operated
by qualified personnel.
For transportation purposes, the unit must be completely empty (cooling
and system circuit).
For careful handling and in-plant transport, observe the symbols and in-
structions on the packaging.
To protect the unit, do not remove the packaging until shortly before in-
stallation.
When shipping a unit, use only the original or equivalent packaging. Only
transport the unit upright.
2.1 Procedure for carrying by crane
1. Pull out the lifting device at
the rear of the unit.
2. Attach lifting straps to the
lifting device
and to the front
handle.
3 Installation
Electrical installation and initial commissioning must be carried out by
qualified electricians.
Hydraulic installation and initial commissioning must be carried out by
hydraulics specialists.
To protect the entire system, the guide values for water quality must be
observed. Detailed information is available at http://knowledge.hb-therm.eu.
Remove the protective film from the display.

Overview

The HB-Therm Thermo-6 (Water) is a temperature control unit designed to precisely heat or cool a connected consumer, such as a mould, to a specified temperature using water as the heat transfer medium. It is built for industrial applications, ensuring stable temperature maintenance within defined operational parameters.

Function Description:

The unit operates by circulating water through a connected consumer, either heating it to a desired temperature or cooling it down. This process is managed by an internal system that monitors and adjusts the water temperature and pressure. The unit is equipped with various connections for cooling water, main lines (in/out), system water, compressed air, and electrical mains, allowing for integration into complex industrial setups. It also supports optional interfaces for OPC UA data, HB data, external control, and external sensors, enhancing its versatility and connectivity within a smart factory environment. The unit's control system includes a setup assistant for initial commissioning and an intuitive interface for setting the desired temperature. Safety features, such as an emergency stop and various warnings, are integrated to ensure safe operation.

  • Leakage Current: Maximum 5 mA (Type B RCD recommended)
  • Heating Capacity: Varies with mains voltage, subject to internal limitation and ±10% voltage range variation.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: The unit is designed for water-protected indoor areas with sufficient ventilation, on a horizontal, stable, and low-vibration surface. Electrical and hydraulic installations, as well as initial commissioning, must be performed by qualified specialists. External cables should not touch hydraulic lines or parts exceeding 50°C.
  • Transport: The unit must be completely empty (cooling and system circuit) during transport. It should be transported upright using suitable crane and lifting equipment operated by qualified personnel. Original or equivalent packaging should be used for shipping.
  • Connections: Requires pressure- and temperature-resistant connections, screw connections, and hose lines. Assembly pastes are recommended for screw connections to prevent seizing.
  • Operation:
    • Switching On/Off: The unit is switched on or off using the On/Off button. Upon switching on, it enters the defined operating mode, fills, and vents if necessary. When switched off, it cools, empties, and depressurizes.
    • Emergency Stop: A main switch serves as an emergency stop. In case of an emergency, the main switch should be set to the 'O' position. Before restarting after an emergency stop, the cause must be eliminated, and all safety devices confirmed to be functioning.
    • Temperature Setting: The desired set temperature can be entered via the input keyboard on the basic screen.
    • Safety: The unit incorporates various safety warnings (Danger, Warning, Caution, Hot Surface, Electric Shock) marked by symbols, emphasizing the importance of protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols. Safety devices should never be overridden.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Checks: The entire system, including hose lines and screw connections, should be regularly checked for leaks and damage, with any defects remedied immediately.

  • Qualified Personnel: Maintenance work, troubleshooting, and functional testing must be carried out by qualified personnel.
  • Pre-Maintenance Procedures: Before any maintenance, repair, or cleaning work, the unit must be cooled down, depressurized, and switched off. It is crucial to ensure the unit is pressure-free.
  • Power Disconnection: When opening the unit, it must be disconnected from the power supply, and the disconnection secured against accidental switching on. A 5-minute waiting period is required after switching off the power supply before working on the frequency converter due to charged capacitors.
  • Spare Parts: Only original spare parts from the manufacturer should be used.
  • Specific Restrictions: Maintenance work on the magnetic coupling of the pump is prohibited for individuals wearing pacemakers.
  • Water Quality: Guide values for water quality must be observed to protect the entire system, with detailed information available online.
