WARNING
SECTION 1: GENERAL INFORMATION
These heaters are ETL approved for permanent installations
and electrical connections. Built with splash proof construction,
the conducting parts are protected against water. All wiring
must be performed in accordance with national and local codes.
See Diagram 2 for wire and room size requirements. These
heaters are wall mounted.
Do not take a sauna if
using alcohol, drugs or
medications.
Pregnant women or
persons with poor
health should consult
their physician before
using any sauna.
Caution fire hazard: Do
not use the sauna room
for drying clothes,
bathing suits, etc. Do
not hang towels above
heater or place any
object other than the
rocks supplied on the
heater. If any darkening
of the wall around the
heater is noticed
discontinue sauna use
immediately.
Inspect sauna regularly
for required
maintenance to heater,
control and benches.
Replace wood surfaces
which show any signs
of deterioration.
The heater gets
extremely hot during
operation and should
not be touched or burns

WARNING
Prolonged exposure to elevated temperatures is capable of
inducing hyperthermia. Hyperthermia occurs when the internal
temperature of the body reaches several degrees above the
normal body temperature of 98.6°F. The symptoms of
hyperthermia include an increase in the normal temperature of
the body, dizziness, lethargy, drowsiness, and fainting. The
effects of the hyperthermia include failure to perceive heat,
failure to recognize the need to exit the room, unawareness of
impending hazard, fetal damage in pregnant women, physical
inability to exit the room and unconsciousness.
WARNING
The use of alcohol, drugs, or medication is capable of greatly
increasing the risk of fatal hyperthermia.

Overview

The "Viki" Heater Sauna Series Models (4.5, 6.0, 8.0, with product numbers 1720-45-02, 1720-60-02, and 1720-80-02 respectively) are ETL approved sauna heaters designed for permanent installations and electrical connections. These heaters are wall-mounted and feature splash-proof construction, protecting conducting parts from water. They are controlled by the "SaunaLogic" control system.

Function Description:

The "Viki" heater series provides heat for sauna rooms, allowing users to experience the benefits of a sauna bath. The SaunaLogic control system manages the heater's operation, including temperature and time settings, and offers a delay start function. The system also supports optional Spectra-Light kits for color therapy and interior/exterior white lighting.

  • Ventilation: Air should be changed about 6 times an hour. Minimum vent size (V) in square inches is determined by the floor area (R) in square feet:

    • For R < 31: V > 9.3
    • For R > 31: V > 0.3R

Usage Features:

  • SaunaLogic Control: The external control unit allows users to set the desired temperature (125°F to 194°F / 90°C max) and bath time (0 to 60 minutes).
  • ON/OFF Button: Activates the heater and displays room temperature.
  • Temperature Adjustment: "+" and "-" buttons to increase or decrease temperature.
  • Time Adjustment: "+" and "-" buttons to increase or decrease bath time.
  • Delay Start Function: Allows programming a delayed start for the sauna, with a flashing semi-colon on the display indicating delay mode. The delay can be set for up to 8 hours and 30 minutes.
  • High Limit Control: A built-in safety feature that automatically turns off the heater if the sauna room temperature rises to an abnormally high level. The control displays "HL" when tripped. To reset, the heater must cool down, and the ON/OFF button must be pressed.
  • Sauna Rocks: Specifically chosen rocks are supplied for optimal heater performance. They must fully cover the heating elements and be placed loosely to allow air circulation.
  • Heater Guard Rail: A wooden guard rail is required to prevent accidental contact with the hot heater.
  • Warning Placards: "CAUTION" and "WARNING" placards are provided and must be mounted inside the sauna room as per instructions to inform users of potential risks (e.g., overheating, fire hazard, health warnings).
  • Sauna Door Requirements: The sauna door must open outwards and not have a permanent locking or latch system. Acceptable fittings include magnetic, friction, spring, or gravity-loaded closures.
  • Lighting Control: The SaunaLogic control is designed to operate Spectra-Light kits (accessory) which include internal color therapy, interior white, and exterior white lights. The control has three buttons for managing these light circuits.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Cleaning: The sauna room, including benches and floor, should be kept clean and odor-free. Towels or mats should always be used on benches and the floor to absorb perspiration.
  • Air Out Sauna: Keep the door and vents open when the sauna is not in use to air it out.
  • Weekly Wash Down: For daily use saunas, a weekly wash down is recommended to keep them clean and fresh. Duckboards should be removed, the floor mopped and dried, and the duckboards thoroughly scrubbed and dried.
  • Heater Cleaning: The sauna heater should be wiped down occasionally with a damp cloth to remove lint and dust.
  • Rock Maintenance: Sauna rocks should be removed once a year for cleaning, and any small or crumbled rocks should be replaced.
  • Perspiration Stain Removal: Use soap or detergent in warm water with a scrub brush. Heavily soiled surfaces may require sanding.
  • Bench Inspection: Benches and supporting structures must be inspected annually for deterioration due to age, dry rot, or abuse. Any damaged boards should be replaced immediately to prevent injury.
  • Troubleshooting Display Codes:
    • "SN": Indicates no sensor is connected. Refer to Section 5 for sensor installation.
    • "HL": Indicates the high limit is open and the heater is too warm. Refer to Section 9 for high limit information.
