Overview

The Hergóm ADDA 8 / ADDA 10 is a pellet stove designed for heating residential spaces, offering a blend of technological experience, safety, and efficiency. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for its installation, operation, and maintenance, emphasizing the importance of adherence to these guidelines for optimal performance and longevity.

Function Description:

The ADDA 8 / ADDA 10 is a pellet-fueled stove that provides automatic and controlled combustion. It features a central control unit that regulates the ignition phase, offers five power levels, and manages the shutdown sequence, ensuring safe operation. The stove is designed to heat rooms quickly, with a "Turbo" function that allows it to operate at maximum power for a set period (typically 30 minutes) to reach the desired temperature rapidly. An "Econo" function is also available for maintaining a constant ambient temperature, reducing power consumption over time. The stove includes an automatic programming feature for daily or single on/off cycles, which can be managed via an optional remote control.

Important Technical Specifications:

The stove is designed to comply with several European directives, including 89/336 CE and 2004/108 CE (EMC directive), 2006/95 CE (low voltage directive), 2006/42 CE (machinery directive), and 89/106 CE (construction products). It also adheres to standards such as EN 60335-1, EN 50165, EN 50366, EN 55014-1, EN 61000-3-2, EN 61000-3-3, and EN 14785. The ceramic glass in the door is 4 mm thick and resistant to thermal shock up to 750°C. Pellets used must be of quality, with a diameter of 6 mm, as recommended by the manufacturer. The remote control, if supplied, uses AAA 1.5V batteries. The stove is equipped with an exhaust fan and a pellet loading motor reducer.

Usage Features:

The stove's control panel features a display and several keys for managing its functions. Users can adjust the desired room temperature (from 7°C to 40°C) and working power (from level 1 to 5). The "On/Off" button allows for easy activation and deactivation. The display provides real-time information on the stove's operating status, including temperature, power, and various alarm codes (e.g., "COOL FIRE" for power outages, "SERV" for maintenance, "ALARM NO ACC" for ignition failure, "ALARM NO FIRE" for flame extinction, "ALARM FAN FAIL" for fan malfunction, "ALARM SOND FUMI" for smoke sensor issues, and "ALARM DEP SIC FAIL" for chimney obstruction or overheating).

The optional remote control offers additional functionalities, such as chrono-thermostat programming for automatic on/off cycles, which can be set for daily repetition or specific times. The "SLEEP" function, available through the remote control, automatically lowers the set temperature by 1°C one hour after activation to save energy. The "TURBO" function allows for rapid heating, while the "ECONO" function helps maintain a stable ambient temperature with reduced power. It is crucial to ensure proper ventilation during the first hours of operation to dissipate any odors from paint or grease in the heat exchanger. The first lighting of the stove must be performed by an authorized assistance center to validate the installation and warranty. The stove should not be used as an incinerator, and only recommended pellet fuel should be used.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is essential for the stove's safe and efficient operation.

  • Combustion Chamber Cleaning (monthly): This involves removing the scraper, cleaning the heat exchange tubes (5-6 pushes/pulls), and then removing the fireproof bulkheads (lateral and central) and the brazier for thorough cleaning of ash and residues.
  • Metal Parts Cleaning: Metal parts should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth. Abrasive detergents, solvents, or alcohol should be avoided.
  • Brazier and Brazier Support Cleaning (daily): The brazier and its support must be cleaned daily to prevent ignition failures and potential damage from unburnt material and soot. Special attention should be paid to clearing any obstructed orifices.
  • Ceramic Covering Cleaning (if present): Ceramic surfaces should be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth and neutral, mild detergents. Avoid using cold water on hot ceramic to prevent thermal shock and breakage.
  • Flue System Cleaning (monthly/annually): The discharge tubes and chimney should be inspected and cleaned regularly. For fixed chimneys, an inspection opening must be installed. Professional chimney sweep services are recommended for thorough cleaning.
  • Glass Cleaning: The self-cleaning glass should be cleaned when the stove is cold, using recommended products. Regular inspection of the gray gasket around the glass is important for stove efficiency.
  • Fan Cleaning (annually): The stove's two fans (ambient and smoke) should be cleaned at least once a year to prevent dust and ash buildup, which can cause imbalance and noise. This operation may require disassembling parts of the stove and should be performed by an authorized service center.
  • Season End Cleaning: Before storing the stove for the off-season, a general cleaning is recommended, including removing all pellets from the tank and auger, and thoroughly cleaning the brazier, its support, the combustion chamber, and the ash container.
  • Annual Maintenance by Authorized Service Center: An authorized service center should perform annual maintenance, including general internal and external cleaning, inspection of heat exchange tubes, brazier, motors, flue system, silicone tube, ignition resistance, display, electrical connections, pellet tank, and combustion door gasket. A functional test, including pellet loading, ignition, and 10 minutes of operation, should also be performed.

It is critical to ensure that all parts of the stove are cold and ashes are completely extinguished before any cleaning or maintenance. The main switch should be in the "OFF" position, and the power plug disconnected to prevent accidental contact. The manual emphasizes that any modifications to the product can be made without prior notice as part of Hergóm's continuous development policy. In case of fire, disconnect power, use an extinguisher, and contact emergency services and the authorized assistance center.
