Function Description

The Hisense split-type air conditioner is designed for cooling, heating, dry, and fan-only operation. It features a remote control for convenient operation and an indoor control circuit that manages various components including the room temperature sensor, indoor pipe temperature sensor, indoor fan motor, and indoor air flow direction motor. For heat pump models, an outdoor temperature sensor and a 4-way reversing valve are also controlled. The system includes a compressor for refrigerant circulation and an outdoor fan motor.

The operation mode can be set to Cooling, Heat, Dry, or Fan only. The appliance supports various fan speeds (Auto, High, Medium, Low) and includes a dimmer function for the display. It also features a room temperature display (optional). The system incorporates a 4-way reversing valve control (available for Heat Pump models) and a compressor ON/OFF control. Error inquiry and a compressor delayed protection are also integrated.

The system provides a signal output for "ON/OFF" status, filter monitor reset, and 4 H/C split unit air flow direction motor (step motor) for indoor fan control.

Installation Specifications:

  • Indoor Unit Placement:
    • Choice for reference: 170W/m² for average rooms.
    • Choice for reference: 160-200W/m² for small size offices.
    • Choice for reference: 220-350W/m² for restaurants.
    • Choice for reference: 200-300W/m² for entertaining venues.
    • Choice for reference: 220-280W/m² for the top floor.
    • Note: 1W = 3.412btu.
  • Distance for Indoor Unit:
    • Distance from wall should be over 50mm.
    • Distance from ceiling should be over 300mm.
    • Distance from floor should be over 2400mm.
    • The wallboard must be smooth and straight, with its supporting force of not less than 60 kg.
  • Outdoor Unit Placement:
    • Air intake distance from the wall should be over 250mm.
    • Air outlet distance from the wall should be over 1000mm.
    • Distance from the wall should be over 50mm.
    • Distance from ceiling should be over 300mm.
    • The wallboard supporting force should be able to withstand four times the weight of the outdoor unit, and not less than 180 kg.
  • Connection Pipe Length and Diameter:
    • The height difference between the indoor unit and the outdoor unit should not exceed 5m.
    • The connection pipe length should be not less than 1m.
    • The longest connection pipe is 15m.
    • For connection pipe exceeding 5m, additional gas is required.
    • The liquid pipe length is 7m, meaning that it should charge (7m-5m)*50g/m=100g gas for the unit refer to the following sheet:
      • Liquid pipe Φ6.35:
  • Gas pipe Φ9.53 or Φ12.7: Cooling only 15 (g/m), Heat pump 20 (g/m)
    • Liquid pipe Φ6.35 or Φ9.53:
  • Gas pipe Φ15.88 or Φ19.05: Cooling only 15 (g/m), Heat pump 50 (g/m)

Usage Features

  • Remote Control: The appliance is operated by manual and remote control. The remote control can set Auto, Cooling, Dry, Heating, and Fan only functions.
  • Temperature Settings: The temperature setting range is 18℃ to 32℃. The indoor air temperature sensor working range is 15℃ to 33℃.
  • Indoor Air Volume Settings: High, Medium, Low RPM settings for Heat, Cooling, Dry, and Fan only modes.
  • Louver Control: Indoor louver swing control is available. The horizontal louver is controlled by a step motor, and the SWING button can be pressed to swing or stop the louver.
  • Overcooling Protection: When the indoor coil pipe temperature is lower than 3℃ and higher than -7℃ during Cooling or Dry operation for 3 min, the indoor fan speed turns to high and the outdoor fan turns off. After the temperature recovers to 7℃, the air conditioner returns to normal condition. When the indoor coil pipe temperature falls below -7℃ during COOLING or DRY operation for 3 minutes, the compressor and outdoor fan motor turn OFF. When the indoor pipe temperature recovers to 5℃ and the compressor has been stopped for 3 minutes, the compressor and outdoor fan motor will be turned ON.
  • Room Temperature Control: When room temperature is higher than 35℃, the compressor is stopped for 1 min then turn on (when the compressor ceased for 3 min protection, the indoor fan should be turn on immediately). When the indoor fan motor is kept in running condition, this operation state could be controlled by the remote control with High, Median, Low and Automatic setting. When the appliance is set to Automatic condition in the Cool mode for the first time, the fan speed will run at Low setting. After that, temperature and fan speed is shown as following.
  • Dry Mode Operation: When the appliance runs into Dry mode, it starts as Cooling mode operation. If 3 minutes elapses after starting, the appliance will sense the intake air temperature and minus 2℃ as the setting temperature and operate in Cooling mode, and the indoor motor speed is low. During this operation, the air flow direction could be set but the air volume is unavailable, and the setting temperature can only be adjusted by 2℃ up and down (the minimum accuracy is 1℃). When the appliance runs in this mode, it will not influenced by under the 18℃ limit.
  • Heating Mode Operation: The 4-way reversing valve is turn ON under the Heating mode. During this mode operation, the setting temperature and air volume can be adjusted, and the air flow direction could be swang. When the appliance runs in normal condition, the room's temperature can only be adjusted by 1℃ up and down base on the setting temperature, the compressor operation diagram is shown as following. When the temperature rose, the compressor will be power ON.
  • Anti-cold Air System (Heating Mode): When the appliance is run in Heat mode condition, the indoor fan motor operation is shown as following to prevent the cooling air come out during the appliance operation.
  • Super Mode: The appliance is in operation or stand-by, when the "Super" signal is received from the remote control, it will operated at the Cool mode and set the temperature at 18℃ and fan speed setting is High.
  • Sleep Mode: The appliance can be set to Sleep mode, Heat and Dry mode. When the appliance runs in the Sleep mode, it will stop after 8 hours operation, then it will cancel the Sleep setting. When the appliance operate under the OFF-Timer setting condition, if the OFF-Timer setting less than 8 hours, it will keep the Sleep mode till the OFF-Timer setting; if the OFF-Timer setting more than 8 hours, it will cancel the OFF-Timer setting after the Sleep mode OFF. When the Sleep mode is select with Cooling mode, if the room temperature not less than 26℃, the setting temperature will not be adjusted, otherwise, the setting temperature will be raised by 1℃ per hour, but the max setting temperature raise is 1℃. When the Sleep mode is select with Heat mode, the setting temperature will be decreased by 1℃ per hour during the successive 3 hour, but the max setting temperature decrease is 3℃. When the appliance operate with Sleep mode, the indoor fan run in the LOW setting, and the air flow direction same as the last setting and the temperature and air flow direction can be adjusted by user. The Running indicator will be flashed 10 times per 1 Hz frequency, then all the indicators turn OFF except the Sleep light after 5 min elapse. Those indicators will be recovery when the temperature or Time setting is adjusted, after the setting, the indicators will be lit in 10 sec, then turn OFF except the Sleep light.
  • Room Temperature Display (Optional): When the appliance operates at the Room Temperature Display, the room temperature can be displayed in any mode except Sleep and Dimmer mode. It will display the setting temperature in 10 sec after receive any signal from remote control, then display the room temperature. (Only is the Delay time (Setting Timer) display with the Non-real time condition, include the stand-by state).

Maintenance Features

  • General Protection System: The appliance is protected against overloading, high temperature, and high pressure during each operation mode (Cooling, Heat, Dry, and Smart mode). If the appliance works under some special mode, the specific protection system will be triggered respectively.
  • Compressor Delay Protection: The compressor is ceased for 3 minutes to balance the pressure in the refrigeration cycle in order to protect the compressor. This protection includes Cooling or the exchange Dry and Heat mode, but the unit has no this function after it restored. If the unit restored and turn ON, then this protection would be functioned.
  • Fan Motor (PG Motor) Protection: When the Fan motor (PG motor) receives the signal, it will be stopped after it detected the speed less than 200RPM, at the same time, the error code, "E4", will be displayed.
  • Self-diagnosis: The system includes a self-diagnosis function to identify and display error codes, aiding in troubleshooting.
  • Auto-restart after Blankout: The appliance will resume operation with the last setting after a power outage.
  • Defrosting Procedure:
    1. Defrost start.
    2. The 4-way valve will not be electrified during defrosting.
    3. The outdoor fan motor will turn off during defrosting.
    4. Compressor operates all long during defrosting.
    5. The the outdoor fan motor will turn on when defrost finish.
    6. The 4 way valve will be electrified after the outdoor fan motor turns on for 10 sec.
    • The defrost time will be adjusted by the actually.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual provides a detailed table of error codes (E2, E4, EA, 1, 33, 34, 38, 39, 41, 42, 43) with corresponding remarks (Light, O Flash, X OFF) and the root cause for each. This helps in identifying and resolving issues quickly.
    • E2 (Evaporator pipe temperature is higher than 63℃): Indicates the indoor pipe temperature is higher than 53℃<T<63℃, the outdoor fan motor will stop running. When the indoor coil temperature is higher than 63℃, the error code will display. After the indoor pipe temperature is lower than 49℃, the air conditioner will restart normally. Root causes include loose indoor coil temperature sensor, indoor temperature sensor failure, or indoor control board failure.
    • E4 (Indoor fan speed is lower than 200 rpm): Indicates something blocks the indoor fan motor, fan motor cord connect loose, fan motor failure, or indoor control board failure.
    • EA (Communication between display board and control board have in trouble): Indicates a connection issue between the display board and control board, or wiring of the display board is faulty.
    • Error 1 (Failure for temperature sensor of outdoor coil): Root causes include loose outdoor temperature sensor, outdoor temperature sensor failure, or outdoor control board failure.
    • Error 33 (Failure for temperature sensor of indoor room): Root causes include loose indoor room temperature sensor, indoor room temperature sensor failure, or indoor control board failure.
    • Error 34 (Failure for temperature sensor of indoor coil temperature): Root causes include loose indoor coil temperature sensor, indoor coil temperature sensor failure, or indoor control board failure.
    • Error 38 (Indoor EEPROM failure): Indicates an EEPROM chip loose or indoor control board failure.
    • Error 39 (Indoor fan motor run abnormally): Indicates something blocks the indoor fan motor, fan motor cord connect loose, fan motor failure, or indoor control board failure.
    • Error 41 (Failure for Indoor grounding protective): Indicates indoor control board failure.
    • Error 42 (Overcooling protection): Indicates the indoor pipe temperature is below T<-1℃ (-7℃). Outdoor fan motor and compressor will stop running. When the Indoor pipe temperature is higher than -1℃ (-7℃), the unit will restart normally. Root causes include loose indoor coil temperature sensor, indoor coil temperature sensor failure, or indoor control board failure.
    • Error 43 (Overheating protection): Indicates the indoor pipe temperature is between 53℃<T<63℃, the outdoor fan motor will stop running. When the indoor coil temperature is higher than 63℃, the error code will display. After the indoor pipe temperature is lower than 49℃, the air conditioner will restart normally. Root causes include loose indoor coil temperature sensor, indoor coil temperature sensor failure, or indoor control board failure.
  • Error Inquiry: The Error inquiry should be operate in the stand-by state, keep 5 sec press and hold on the Emergency button, the error code will be displayed in 10 sec, then the indoor unit display will recovery to the original. If two or more malfunction happened, each error code will be displayed alternatively. If the appliance could save information under no power condition, then the error code can be inquired as aforesaid with stand-by state after power resume.
