Function Description:

The Hitachi refrigerator is a "No Frost" appliance designed for household use, featuring Dual Fan Cooling and an Inverter compressor for efficient temperature control. It includes separate compartments for refrigeration and freezing, with specialized areas like a Fresh Select Compartment and a Vegetable Compartment to optimize food storage conditions. The appliance is equipped with a control panel for managing temperature settings, activating special functions, and monitoring its status.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Refrigerant: R600a (hydrocarbon, non-fluorocarbon), which is flammable but sealed within the refrigerant circuit.
  • Blowing Agent for Urethane Heat Insulation: Cyclopentane.
  • Operating Temperature Range: Designed for room temperatures between 10°C and 43°C.
  • Ventilation Requirements: At least 50 mm space above and at the rear, and 10 mm at both sides for proper air circulation.
  • Power Supply: Requires an exclusive wall power outlet with rated voltage.
  • Temperature Settings (Approximate values at 32°C ambient, "Normal" settings, doors closed, no food storage):
    • Refrigerator Compartment: 2°C~5°C
    • Fresh Select Compartment (Vegetables): 3°C~7°C
    • Fresh Select Compartment (Dairy/Meat): 1°C~3°C
    • Vegetable Compartment: 3°C~7°C
    • Freezer Compartment: -20°C~-18°C

Usage Features:

  • Control Panel: An intuitive touch-sensitive control panel allows users to adjust settings. It displays the name and function of various features, including:
    • Compartment Selection: To choose between Freezer (F) and Refrigerator (R) compartments.
    • Temperature Control: Offers "Cold," "Normal," and "Coldest" settings for both freezer and refrigerator compartments.
    • Fine Adjustment of Temperature: Allows for 9 steps of precise temperature adjustment within each compartment.
    • Quick Cooling/Quick Freezing: Accelerates the cooling or freezing process. Quick Freezing takes approximately 2 hours, while Quick Cooling takes about 90 minutes.
    • Child Lock: Prevents unintended changes to settings by locking the control panel.
    • Energy Saving: Optimizes energy consumption, recommended for low storage volume or long vacations.
    • Door Alarm: Sounds an alarm if a door is left open for more than 1 minute, with escalating alerts at 2 and 3 minutes.

    • Fresh Select Compartment: Features a lever to switch between "Vegetable" (3°C~7°C) and "Dairy/Meat" (1°C~3°C) settings, adjusting cold air flow into the drawer.
    • Vegetable Compartment: Equipped with vegetable drawers for storing fruits and vegetables.
    • Freezer Compartment: Designed for frozen food and ice cream.
  • Ice Maker: A moveable Twist Ice Maker allows users to easily make and store ice cubes in the "Ice Bank."
  • Adjustable-height Shelves: Shelves can be adjusted to accommodate different food heights.
  • Swing Partition: A feature on the left door that automatically closes when the door is opened and opens when the door is closed. It includes a heater to prevent dew formation.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Regular cleaning (once a month is recommended) involves unplugging the refrigerator, removing food, wiping surfaces with a soft cloth and lukewarm water (or diluted, pH-balanced washing liquid for stubborn smudges), cleaning door gaskets, and wiping off any water droplets. The power plug and cord should also be cleaned.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting section for common issues such as:
    • Refrigerator not getting cold or not cold enough.
    • Food freezing in the refrigerator compartment.
    • Dew or frost generation (outside or inside).
    • Unpleasant odors inside.
    • Noisy operation.
    • Control panel not responding or unlit.
    • Control panel display changing erratically (store-display mode).
  • Dew or Frost Generation Explanation: The manual explains that dew and frost are generated when warm, humid air contacts cold surfaces, and provides solutions like ensuring doors are closed properly, not opening doors too frequently or for too long, and wrapping high-moisture foods.
  • Service Center Information: Contact details for Hitachi Service Center are provided for repairs and inquiries.
  • Lamp Replacement: LED lamps require replacement by a Hitachi Service Center.
