following points:

Attentionisdrawntothefactthatadditionaltransportationregulationsmayexistwithrespecttoequipmentcontainingammable
gas.Themaximumnumberofpiecesofequipmentorthecongurationoftheequipmentpermittedtobetransportedtogetherwill
be determined by the applicable transport regulations.
2 Equipment signs
Signsforsimilarappliances(containingammablerefrigerants)usedinaworkareagenerallyareaddressedbylocalregulations
andgivetheminimumrequirementsfortheprovisionofsafetyand/orhealthsignsforaworklocation.Allrequiredsignsaretobe
maintainedandemployersshouldensurethatemployeesreceivesuitableandsufcientinstructionandtrainingonthemeaning
ofappropriatesafetysignsandtheactionsthatneedtobetakeninconnectionwiththesesigns.
The effectiveness of signs should not be diminished by too many signs being placed together. Any pictograms used should be as
simple as possible and contain only essential details.
3 Disposal of equipment containig ammable refrigerants
In compliance with national regulations.
4 Storage of equipment/appliances
The storage of equipment should be in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
5 Storage of packed (unsold) equipment
• Storagepackageprotectionshouldbeconstructedsothatmechanicaldamagetotheequipmentinsidethepackagewill
notcausealeakoftherefrigerantcharge.
• Themaximumnumberofpiecesofequipmentpermittedtobestoredtogetherwillbedeterminedbylocalregulations.
6 Information on servicing
6.1. Checking the area
Priortobeginningworkonsystemscontainingammablerefrigerants,safetychecksarenecessarytoensurethattheriskof
ignition is minimised. To repair the refrigerating system, the following precautions should be complied with prior to conducting
workonthesystem.
6.2. Work procedure
Workshallbeundertakenunderacontrolledproceduresoastominimisetheriskofammablegasorvapourbeingpresent
whiletheworkisbeingperformed.
6.3. General work area
• Allmaintenancestaffandothersworkinginthelocalareashallbeinstructedonthenatureofworkbeingcarriedout.
Workinconnedspacesshallbeavoided.
• Theareaaroundtheworkspaceshallbesectionedoff.Ensurethattheconditionswithintheareahavebeenmadesafe
bycontrolofammablematerial.
6.4. Checking for leakage of refrigerant
• Theareashallbecheckedwithanappropriaterefrigerantdetectorpriortoandduringwork,toensurethetechnicianis
awareofpotentiallyammableatmospheres.
• Ensurethattheleakdetectionequipmentbeingusedissuitableforusewithammablerefrigerants,i.e.nonsparking,
adequately sealed or intrinsically safe.
6.5. Fire extinguisher
• Ifanyhotworkistobeconductedontherefrigerationequipmentoranyassociatedparts,appropriatereextinguishing
equipment shall be available.
• Have a dry powder or CO
2
reextinguisheradjacenttothechargingarea.
6.6. No ignition sources
• Nopersoncarryingoutworkinrelationtoarefrigerationsystemwhichinvolvesexposinganypipeworkthatcontainsor
hascontainedammablerefrigerantshalluseanysourcesofignitioninsuchamannerthatitmayleadtotheriskofre
orexplosion.
