Usage Features

The air conditioner offers a comprehensive set of features for user convenience and control:

  • Remote Controller: The primary interface for operating the unit, featuring a display that shows current settings, time, temperature, and mode.
  • Mode Selection: Users can choose between AUTO, COOL, *HEAT (for heat & cool models), and FAN modes using the MASTER CONTROL button.
  • Thermostat Setting: Temperature can be adjusted within specific ranges (e.g., 18 to 30 °C for AUTO, 16 to 30 °C for *Heating, 18 to 30 °C for Cooling).
  • Fan Speed Control: Options include AUTO, HIGH, MED, and LOW. In AUTO mode, fan speed adjusts based on room temperature relative to the thermostat setting.
  • Timer Operations:
    • OFF Timer/ON Timer: Allows scheduling the unit to turn off or on at a specific time.
    • Weekly Timer: Enables setting different operating times for each day of the week, with up to two ON/OFF spans per day. Settings can be made with a 5-minute resolution.
    • DAY OFF Setting: A temporary, one-time cancellation feature for scheduled weekly operations on a specific day.
  • ENERGY SAVE Operation: A mode designed to conserve energy by slightly adjusting the set temperature in cooling (raising it) or heating (lowering it) modes. The unit automatically adjusts the temperature by 0.5-1 °C every 30 minutes until a total change of 1-2 °C is reached.
  • Air Flow Direction Adjustment: Vertical air flow direction can be set using the AIR FLOW DIRECTION SET button, cycling through various ranges.
  • SWING Operation: Activates automatic up/down swinging of the air flow direction flaps to distribute air more evenly. The swing range is relative to the currently set air flow direction.
  • AUTO Restart: In case of a power interruption, the unit will automatically restart in the previously selected mode once power is restored.
  • Microcomputer-controlled Automatic Defrosting: During heating in cold, humid conditions, the outdoor unit automatically enters a defrost cycle to remove frost and maintain efficiency. The indoor fan may shut down, and "DEFROST" will be displayed on the remote controller.
  • Low Ambient Cooling: The outdoor unit's fans may switch to low speed or stop intermittently when outdoor temperatures drop during cooling operation.
  • ZONE Control: For installations with multiple air conditioners controlled centrally, the ZONE control button allows stopping only a preset group of units.

Maintenance Features

The manual outlines essential maintenance procedures to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the air conditioner:

  • Air Filter Cleaning:
    1. Push the intake grille pushbuttons (two places).
    2. Open the intake grille.
    3. Hold down the hook at A and pull the filter out.
    4. Clean the air filters by vacuuming or washing them with mild detergent and warm water.
    5. Allow filters to dry thoroughly in a shady place before reinstalling.
    • Frequency: During normal use, air filters should be cleaned every two months.
    • Importance: Accumulated dirt reduces air flow, lowers operating efficiency, and increases noise.
  • General Cleaning Precautions:
    • Always stop the unit and disconnect the power supply (turn off the electrical breaker) before cleaning to prevent injury from the high-speed fan.
    • Do not use water hotter than 40 °C, harsh abrasive cleansers, or volatile agents (like benzene or thinner) on the unit's body.
    • Avoid exposing the unit body to liquid insecticides or hairsprays.
  • Long-Term Disuse: If the unit will not be operated for a month or more, run it in fan mode for half a day to thoroughly dry the inner parts before turning it off.
  • Professional Inspection: For extended periods of use, the unit may accumulate dirt inside, reducing performance. Regular inspection by authorized service personnel is recommended in addition to routine cleaning.

Safety Precautions

The manual emphasizes several safety precautions, categorized as DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION, to prevent injury or property damage:

  • DANGER:
    • Do not attempt self-installation.
    • Consult authorized service personnel for repairs and relocation.
    • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct cold air flow.
    • Do not insert fingers or objects into outlet ports or intake grilles.
    • Do not start/stop operation by turning off the electrical breaker.
    • Immediately stop operation, turn off the electrical breaker, and consult service personnel in case of malfunction (e.g., burning smell).
  • WARNING:
    • Provide occasional ventilation during use.
    • Do not direct air flow at fireplaces or heating apparatus.
    • Do not climb on or place objects on the air conditioner.
    • Do not hang objects from the indoor unit.
    • Do not set flower vases or water containers on top of air conditioners.
    • Do not expose the air conditioner directly to water or operate with wet hands.
    • Turn off power when not using the unit for extended periods.
    • Always turn off the electrical breaker when cleaning the unit or air filter.
    • Handle connection valves with care during heating as they become hot.
    • Check the installation stand for damage.
    • Do not place animals or plants in the direct path of air flow.
    • When restarting after long disuse, turn on the power switch at least 12 hours before starting.
    • Do not drink water drained from the air conditioner.
    • Do not use for storing foods, plants, animals, precision equipment, or art works.
    • Do not apply heavy pressure to radiator fins.
    • Operate only with air filters installed.
    • Do not block or cover intake grille and outlet port.
    • Ensure electronic equipment is at least one meter away from indoor and outdoor units.
    • Avoid installing near fireplaces or heating apparatus.
    • Take precautions to prevent infant access during installation.
    • Do not use inflammable gases near the air conditioner.

Self-Diagnosis and Troubleshooting

The air conditioner includes a self-diagnosis function that displays error codes on the remote controller (e.g., "EE: EE" instead of the clock). The manual lists various error codes and their corresponding issues, such as communication errors, sensor failures, power source connection errors, float switch operation, and fan abnormalities.

A troubleshooting guide is provided for common issues, including:

  • Doesn't operate immediately: Compressor protection (3-minute delay) or circuit breaker protection (3-minute delay).
  • Noise is heard: Sound of water/coolant flowing, slight squeaking from panel expansion/contraction, or sizzling during automatic defrosting.
  • Smells: Odors absorbed from the room.
  • Mist or steam emitted: Condensation during cooling, or steam during automatic defrosting in heating.
  • Weak or stopped air flow: Temporary low fan speed during heating startup, outdoor unit stopping if room temperature exceeds thermostat setting (in heating), or automatic defrosting in progress.
  • Water produced from outdoor unit: Normal during automatic defrosting in heating.

Users are advised to check basic conditions (power, fuses, timer settings, dirty filters, blocked grilles, correct thermostat settings, open windows/doors) before contacting service personnel. If problems persist or burning smells occur, users should stop operation, turn off the electrical breaker, and consult authorized service personnel.
