Driving and operating 141
• Do not rest your foot on the
brake pedal as the brakes may
overheat. This is particularly
important when towing.
• Take care on slippery surfaces
when accelerating, shifting gears
or braking. An abrupt change in
engine speed, such as sudden
acceleration or engine braking,
may cause the drive wheels to
spin or skid.
• Do not press the accelerator
pedal while using the park
brake or foot brake, when in
D or R. This may overheat the
transmission.
• Do not use the accelerator pedal
to hold the vehicle on a slope.
Use the brakes.
• Do not coast the vehicle in N. This
reduces control of the vehicle as
well as engine braking power.
• To maintain the required levels of
vehicle performance and safety,
the system may not execute
certain gear shifts when the shift
lever is operated.
• Before driving away from a stop
on a slippery road, push the shift
lever forwards (+) into second
gear for a smooth start.
Pull the shift lever backwards (-)
to return to rst gear.
Fuel economy mode
To improve the vehicle’s fuel
economy:
1. Press ECO.
The button is located under the
climate controls.
The eco light on the instrument
cluster illuminates.
2. To turn fuel economy mode off,
press ECO again.
When fuel economy mode is on:
• The transmission will upshift
sooner and downshift later.
• The torque converter will lock up
sooner and stay on longer.
• The accelerator pedal will be less
sensitive.
• Under deceleration, fuel shut
off to the engine will be more
aggressive.
Note
Do not use fuel economy mode
while towing.
Emergency operation
If a problem is detected with the
transmission, illuminates. The
transmission may not operate
normally.
If
stays on and the transmission
does not shift, contact a Holden
Dealer.
Operating notes
• Do not press the accelerator
pedal when moving the shift
lever into R or D.
• Shift to a lower gear before
descending steep grades.
