AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
3
This system has a four-speed automatic
transmission. Its shift indicator is arranged
with P (park) at one end, followed in
sequence by R (reverse), N (neutral) and
then the forward driving ranges.
To prevent the vehicle from ‘creeping’ you
should always have your foot on the brake
pedal when shifting out of P (park).
WARNING
You can select some transmission positions without pressing in the button on the shift
lever. However, it is recommended that you become familiar with these positions to
prevent any accident that may occur due to incorrect operation.
The shift lever can be shifted freely into
any position indicated by the arrow .
The lever cannot be shifted into any
position indicated by the arrow without
pushing in the button located at the end of
the shift lever.
Note
The engine will not start unless the
shift lever is in P or N.
If the shift lever does not move from
the P position, even after the above
instructions are followed, perform the
following steps:
1. Check if the park brake is fully applied.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
3. Move the shift lever from P to N, then start the engine again.
4. Depress the brake pedal and operate the shift lever.
Have the transmission checked by your Holden Dealer as soon as possible.
