Check your home's circuits and fuses, or try a different outlet. A low water level in the tank can also be the cause, so refill it if necessary.   A peculiar odor from your HoMedics Humidifier can occur for a few reasons. If the unit is new, remove the tank cap and let the tank air out in a cool, dry place for about 12 hours. If the humidifier is already in use, the odor might be due to a dirty tank or old water. Empty any old water from both the tank and the water reservoir, then clean the tank and refill it with clean water.
